It might seem strange that one of the most famous superheroes doesn’t actually have any superpowers. But dedicated comic book readers know that Batman’s incredible willpower and brilliant mind allow him to accomplish almost anything. Even other heroes with extraordinary abilities recognize this and often ask for his help when they need it.

It’s interesting that Batman, despite often needing help himself, is usually hesitant to ask other heroes – even his allies in the Bat-Family or the Justice League – for assistance. However, he almost always jumps at the chance to help them, or even heroes from other universes, with incredibly difficult problems. He doesn’t do it out of generosity, though; he simply believes he’s the best person to get the job done.

Superman Needs Batman To Help Save His Mother

Batman and Superman are a compelling pair because they’re so different – in how they look and, more importantly, in their personalities. This often leads to clashes, and they have to learn to overcome their disagreements to team up, a central theme of the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In the dramatic finale of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Superman (Henry Cavill) finds himself in a desperate situation. Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) threatens to harm his mother, Martha (Diane Lane), and forces Superman to ask Batman (Ben Affleck) – the very man who wants to kill him – for help. Batman hesitates, but when he realizes both he and Superman share a mother named Martha, he intervenes to save her, leading to a truly memorable moment.

Green Arrow Needs Batman’s Help To Solve A Case

Batman and Green Arrow are a surprisingly effective team in DC Comics, and they’ve teamed up several times over the years. Wonder Woman and Batman often team up, whether alongside the Justice League or as a duo, and she frequently comes to his rescue. But the comic The Brave and the Bold: Batman and Wonder Woman by Liam Sharp and Romulo Fajardo Jr. presents a different scenario, showing Batman helping her instead.

A fairy war erupts in a 2018 storyline, triggered by the unexpected death of a Celtic god. Wonder Woman investigates to find the culprit, and her search leads her to Batman. He’s already dealing with strange events in Gotham City, and the heroes soon suspect these events are linked to the trouble Diana is facing.

Spawn Needs Batman’s Help To Take On A Cyborg Plot

Batman doesn’t always jump to help other vigilantes, carefully choosing his allies. A good example is his first encounter with the demon hunter, Al Simmons – they actually start fighting before they team up.

This story takes place in the same universe as Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, but happens much earlier. It centers around an invasion where ordinary people are forcibly transformed into violent cyborgs. Surprisingly, it’s Spawn who suggests Batman and he team up to deal with this strange threat. Batman’s initial reaction? Throwing a Batarang at Spawn’s eye – though he quickly changes his mind! The two heroes would later work together again in the Batman/Spawn: War Devil comic, and Spawn even calls Batman a friend in the Mortal Kombat II game.

Barry Allen Needs Batman To Help Stop Zod

Geoff Johns’ well-known 2011 comic storyline, Flashpoint, centers around Barry Allen changing the past. He ends up in a different universe where his mother is still alive, but everything else is drastically worse. In this new reality, Barry has no superpowers, and the world is in chaos. To regain his abilities and fix what he’s done, he teams up with Batman – but this Batman is actually Bruce Wayne’s father, Thomas, who became a vigilante after his son was killed and his wife turned into a violent version of The Joker.

Andy Muschietti’s 2023 film, The Flash, doesn’t feature the Batman audiences might expect. Instead of Thomas Wayne as Batman, Barry Allen and his alternate self – both played by Ezra Miller – turn to Bruce Wayne, portrayed once again by Michael Keaton after a 31-year hiatus from the role (since 1992’s Batman Returns). This version of Batman helps the two Flashes rescue Supergirl (Sasha Calle), restore Barry’s powers, and ultimately try to save the world from the threat of Zod (Michael Shannon) and his Kryptonian forces.

Deadman Needs Batman’s Help Finding His Killer

Okay, so picture this: a circus performer named Boston Brand dies, but then gets brought back as a ghost by some ancient god! Naturally, he wants to find out who killed him, and what’s cooler is he gets a second chance to do it. As a huge mystery fan, I immediately thought, ‘Who could help a ghost solve a murder?’ And the answer is perfect: Batman, the World’s Greatest Detective! It’s a really unique team-up, and honestly, the premise just grabbed me.

A 1968 issue of The Brave and the Bold features Batman investigating a murder committed by someone with a prosthetic hook. Around the same time, the ghostly hero Deadman arrives in Gotham City, hoping Batman can help him find his killer. Deadman suspects the same person responsible for the murder Batman is investigating is also the one who killed him.

Superman Needs Batman’s Help To Stop Joker And Lex Luthor

Batman and Superman are frequent allies, a partnership famously showcased in the DC Comics series World’s Finest. The name of that comic was also used for a special three-part episode of Superman: The Animated Series, which became known as The Batman Superman Movie.

In this 1997 animated special, the Joker travels to Metropolis and offers to kill Superman for Lex Luthor. However, Batman follows him and, after a brief disagreement with Superman, decides to help him defeat the dangerous team-up of their enemies. There’s a particularly striking moment where Superman acknowledges he couldn’t have succeeded without Batman, and Batman simply responds with a confident, “I know.”

Even before it came out in 2015, the team-up between Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – a collaboration between DC Comics and IDW – was expected to be one of the strangest Batman crossovers ever. Surprisingly, it also became one of the most beloved.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Splinter find themselves mysteriously transported to Gotham City in the DC Universe. If they can’t find a way back home quickly, they’ll start to lose their intelligence and become ordinary animals. They must team up with Batman to stop a dangerous partnership between their old enemy, Shredder, and the villainous Penguin.
