Red Dead Redemption 2 Enhanced Version Is Still Coming, Insider Claims

Just when fans were frustrated by another delay for Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games faced more criticism. They announced Red Dead Redemption would be coming to current PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as the new Switch 2. While owners of the original game will get this version as a free update, many fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 were upset, as they’ve been hoping for a modern console version of that game for years.

Rumors have been flying around lately, adding to the confusion. However, according to NateTheHate, it appears that an updated version of Red Dead Redemption 2 is still being worked on. When asked about a possible remake of the original Red Dead Redemption, the insider clarified that working on RDR2 doesn’t mean a remake of RDR1 won’t happen.

He also mentioned initially being told the game would arrive a few months after the Switch 2 launched, back in early 2025. However, he noted that the recent delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 shows that Rockstar Games can change release dates whenever they choose, meaning the timeline isn’t set in stone.

You’ve got a good point there. It’s surprising that GTA6 faced two major delays before the end of 2025. As for whether Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Switch 2, only Rockstar Games can confirm that.

Red Dead Redemption will also be released on December 2nd for existing platforms. Plus, Netflix subscribers will be able to play it on their iPhones and Android devices.
