As a huge fan of the Knives Out series, I’m getting seriously excited! The new film, Wake Up Dead Man, is hitting select theaters in just over a week, and then coming to Netflix in less than a month. They just dropped a brand new trailer, and honestly, it looks fantastic – I can’t wait to see it!
The latest trailer offers the clearest view yet of the film’s new characters and strongly suggests that Josh O’Connor’s character, Jud Duplenticy, is the main suspect in the murder of Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, played by Josh Brolin.
But things aren’t as simple as they appear, and Daniel Craig’s character, Benoit Blanc, hints that this is a crime that seems impossible to solve.
Featuring a huge inheritance, damaging secrets, and even a nod to Scooby-Doo, the new film appears to be another exciting installment in Rian Johnson’s popular mystery series – and reviewers are already on board.
You can watch the new trailer right here now.
The new movie, Wake Up Dead Man – described as Benoit Blanc’s most challenging and unsettling case – follows a young priest named Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor) who is sent to help a powerful and controversial Monsignor named Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin). It quickly becomes apparent that something is wrong within their church community.
I’m so excited about this incredible group of people drawn to Wicks! There’s Martha, a truly dedicated churchgoer played by Glenn Close, and Samson, the quiet, thoughtful groundskeeper brought to life by Thomas Haden Church. Then you’ve got Vera, a lawyer who’s clearly holding a lot in, wonderfully portrayed by Kerry Washington, and Cy, a politician with big dreams, played by Daryl McCormack. We also have Nat, our town doctor, played by Jeremy Renner, and Lee, a famous author, played by Andrew Scott. And let’s not forget Simone, a talented cellist, played by Cailee Spaeny! It’s such a diverse and compelling group, and I can’t wait to see how their stories unfold.
When a shocking murder occurs in town with no clear suspect, local police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) teams up with famous detective Benoit Blanc to solve a baffling mystery.
Following the release of the first Knives Out movie in 2019, new mysteries featuring Benoit Blanc have come out roughly every three years. However, fans might have to wait a bit longer for the fourth film.
While Dwayne Johnson doesn’t have any immediate plans for another movie, he’s open to returning to the franchise if the right circumstances arise.
Look, for me, it all comes down to enjoyment. As long as Daniel and I are having a good time making these films, and he’s still excited about them, and people are actually watching and enjoying them too, that’s amazing. But it’s also really important to me that we don’t just repeat ourselves – we need to keep pushing boundaries and finding fresh, original ideas with each project.
