How Jamie Chung, Bryan Greenberg Handled Their Twins’ Time in the NICU

Jamie Chung knows firsthand how difficult the first days of motherhood can be.

Actress Jamie Chung and her husband, Bryan Greenberg, faced a challenging start to parenthood when their twin boys were born prematurely and needed care in the NICU for several weeks. The twins are now four years old.

Jamie told TopMob News that one of their children attended for two weeks before finishing, while the other only stayed for a week.

The 42-year-old described it as a frightening experience for her and her husband, Bryan, 47, as they became new parents to their tiny sons, who each weighed less than four pounds.

Jamie remembered being surrounded by the sounds of heart monitors and rows of incubators. She was so grateful for the support of the NICU nurses, who held her hand and helped her through what was a very difficult and upsetting time.

The couple, a former reality TV star and her husband, faced a difficult time with their newborn in the NICU, as family visits weren’t allowed, leaving them to rely on the nurses for support.

Jamie also credited their friends with providing valuable support, especially one friend who is a NICU nurse and helped answer their questions.

Even now, she remains deeply thankful for the wonderful care her family and she received at the hospital.

Inspired by this experience, Jamie is working with Carter’s Charitable Foundation. They’re donating $50,000 to March of Dimes in November, during National Prematurity Awareness Month, to help people learn about premature birth and support families with babies in the NICU.

Jamie praised the March of Dimes, calling it a fantastic organization dedicated to the health and well-being of mothers and premature babies. She described their work as ‘pretty incredible’.

Her experience with her babies in the NICU highlighted the need for thoughtfully designed clothing for premature babies, leading her company to also focus on charitable work in that area.

Jamie explained that for the past two decades, Carter’s has worked with neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurses and families to create designs, such as easy-to-use kimonos and caps, that simplify care for both nurses and families.

Jamie explained that as their children grew, being able to easily change diapers became crucial. ‘You absolutely need the zipper for quick changes,’ she said.

Her kids have grown up so quickly, Jamie told TopMob it felt like it happened overnight.

“All of a sudden, they go from four pounds to 40,” she shared. “They really do grow up so fast.”

The actress, known for her role in Once Upon a Time, is now making a conscious effort to savor every moment with her child. She admits she felt overwhelmed during the early months and didn’t fully enjoy that time.

Honestly, those first few months with a new baby were just about getting through each day – it was all burping, feeding, diaper changes, and it felt totally overwhelming! But I’ve really made a conscious effort to shift gears and be present in the moment, instead of constantly rushing onto the next thing. It’s made a huge difference, learning to savor those little moments.

She added, “It’s been a great joy and delight.”
