The first movie in the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy is proving to be a massive success, achieving record-breaking numbers as the story nears its conclusion. While details about the next two films are still limited, the first installment has already earned over 100 billion yen worldwide – a first for any Japanese film. Remarkably, it’s even outperformed this year’s major Hollywood releases from Marvel and DC. This sets a very high bar for future anime films, and it will be a challenge for others to reach this level of success.
Despite being released months ago, the movie continues to play in cinemas and remains incredibly popular, meaning it won’t be available to stream this year. While fans are eager for updates on the next installments in the series, two cast members from Demon Slayer have shared their enthusiasm about the film’s success. According to ScreenRant, the English voice actors for Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado discussed the movie’s huge impact at Anime Pasadena, a yearly anime and pop culture event.
Demon Slayer Stars Express Excitement Over Infinity Castle’s Massive Success

In a recent interview, Abby Trott, who voices Nezuko Kamado in English, expressed her amazement at the widespread popularity of Demon Slayer. She noted how the series has become a cultural phenomenon, appealing to all ages – she even spotted young children dressed as Nezuko at IMAX showings of the R-rated movie! It’s incredible, she said, to see something that began as a relatively small interest become so mainstream.
She also shared, “As a longtime fan, it’s amazing to see how popular anime has become. I recently experienced seeing Princess Mononoke in IMAX, which was a dream come true, and it really highlights how much the medium has evolved.”
Zach Aguilar, the voice of Tanjiro Kamado in the English dub, recently reflected on how far anime has come. He said it feels strange to think back to his middle school days, when anime wasn’t well-known and fans sometimes faced teasing for enjoying it.
I have to say, I’m a huge fan of the show, so being involved now feels surreal. It’s incredible to be part of something that’s competing with major Hollywood films – honestly, I’m speechless. I never thought I’d be working on a project that resonates with so many people. And the best part? I’m still a fan myself! I enjoy Demon Slayer just as much as any viewer.
Aguilar expressed surprise at the overwhelming success, saying, “I expected it to do well, but not this well. Breaking global records is just incredible.”
The Infinity Castle arc presented Tanjiro with his toughest battle yet, against the powerful Akaza, who ranks as Upper Rank Three. This part of the story also showed Zenitsu fighting Kaigaku, the newly appointed Upper Rank Six, and Shinobu battling Doma, Upper Rank Two.
