A classic game originally released on PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox is coming back on March 20, 2026! You’ll be able to play it on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. It won’t be available on the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2, or older PlayStation and Xbox consoles, but some older consoles can play it through backward compatibility. The price hasn’t been announced yet.
The game, called Ghost Master, first came out in 2003 on PC and Mac, created by Sick Puppies. However, it didn’t gain much attention until the following year when Spiral House released it on the original Xbox and PlayStation 2. It’s a somewhat obscure title from over two decades ago, so it’s surprising to see it back in the spotlight.
About the Game
The classic game Ghost Master is back with a new version called Ghost Master: Resurrection. It’s currently available on Steam Early Access, having launched on October 30th, and players seem to love it! It has received 177 user reviews with an 85% positive rating, earning it a “Very Positive” designation on Steam. While gamers are enjoying the revival, those unfamiliar with the original might find better options in the genre. The biggest draw is likely the nostalgia factor for longtime fans, and perhaps a spooky game to play on Halloween in a few years.
This isn’t just a simple re-release; it’s a complete rebuild of the original game using Unreal Engine 5. The original game received mixed reviews, with scores ranging from 59 to 81 on Metacritic – a wide spread largely due to issues with the initial console version. But that old console port is now irrelevant, as this is a brand new remake.
In this unique blend of strategy and puzzle gameplay, you lead an army of ghosts and must use them to frighten the people of Gravenville.
We’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave a comment below or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum. Are you planning to watch this remake when it comes out next year?
