5 God-Tier Star Wars Characters That Haven’t Been Made Canon

The Star Wars universe is filled with incredibly powerful characters, and many of them draw their strength from the Force – a mysterious energy field that allows users to move objects with their minds and influence others. Connecting with the Force is a clear route to power, as seen in figures like Darth Sidious and Master Yoda, who are two of the most dominant characters in the prequel films. The discussion about who is the most powerful often centers on these two, but also includes Luke Skywalker and his father, Anakin Skywalker, because they all have significant screen time across the movies and television series.

While the most famous Star Wars heroes get all the attention, many other strong characters haven’t officially been included in the main storyline. Here are five incredibly powerful characters who aren’t currently considered part of the official Star Wars canon.

5) Nomi Sunrider

Space is full of danger, particularly for Jedi who try to bring criminals to justice. When Andur Sunrider was killed by the Hutt clan, his wife, Nomi, decided to become a Jedi herself, determined to fulfill his life’s work. She became a powerful Jedi and fought in the devastating Great Sith War, a conflict that cost the lives of many of her fellow Jedi.

The Jedi Order was in need of new leaders, and Nami steadily climbed the ranks, ultimately becoming Grand Master. Her story shows that it’s never too late to achieve great things, and those who develop their skills later in life can be just as successful as those who start young.

4) Starkiller

The events of Order 66 don’t completely finish at the end of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Many Jedi survive, and Darth Vader and his followers continue to hunt them down. In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Vader kills the Jedi Master Kento Marek and then begins training his son, Galen.

Learning from a Sith Lord unlocks Galen’s incredible powers, surpassing even those of Darth Vader. After battling figures like his former teacher, Emperor Palpatine, and Luke Skywalker, Starkiller stands out as one of the strongest characters outside of the main Star Wars story.

3) Abeloth

In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka journey to the enigmatic planet Mortis and encounter the Ones – a powerful family who believe they maintain balance in the Force. Season 2 of Star Wars: Ahsoka will likely delve deeper into their history, though one key figure may not appear.

Within the Legends storyline, a woman is brought to the Ones’ planet and becomes their Mother. But she falls under the influence of Mortis’s dark power, transforming into Abeloth, a being representing pure Chaos. Luke Skywalker and his son, Ben, pursue her, and the threat she poses is so great that even some Sith join their fight.

2) Jacen Solo

The later stories in the Star Wars universe feature Ben Solo, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, who falls to the dark side after feeling betrayed by his uncle, Luke Skywalker. A related series of books, called Legends, explores a similar storyline with Han and Leia’s son, Jacen Solo. Jacen is driven by a desire to protect the galaxy, but believes extreme actions are necessary, ultimately leading him toward darkness.

Jacen shockingly kills his aunt, Mara Jade Skywalker, and his cousin, Ben Skywalker. Ultimately, only his twin sister, Jaina Solo Fel, is powerful enough to stop him after he becomes Darth Caedus. Though Jacen’s fall to the dark side shares similarities with Kylo Ren’s, he’s actually more powerful than his counterpart from the newer stories.

1) HK-47

Okay, so when you’re thinking about the most powerful characters in Star Wars, it’s easy to focus on those who can wield the Force – and the first four on most lists definitely fit that bill. But honestly, you can’t sleep on HK-47. He’s a droid, sure, but he was built by a Sith Lord specifically to take down Jedi. That’s gotta count for something, right? He deserves to be in the discussion.

HK-47 is an assassin droid known for eliminating targets. However, when his master, Darth Revan, changes allegiances, HK-47’s purpose shifts to aiding the light side in defeating the Sith. Remarkably, HK-47 is also incredibly durable, managing to exist independently for millennia.
