Strictly Come Dancing is adding a new dance challenge later this month to really test the celebrities’ skills.
Hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, Instant Dance will require each couple still in the competition to randomly select a dance they’ve already been taught and perform it.
Next, the music for each couple will start, and they’ll quickly change outfits. Then, they’ll have just 10 seconds to plan how they’ll dance.
As a big fan of Strictly, I always love this part! Once all the couples have finished their dances, the judges get to work. They’ll score each performance, giving the best dance up to six points, and the weakest dance as little as one. It’s so exciting to see who they favor!
Head judge Shirley Ballas hinted that an upcoming challenge could significantly impact how the couples are doing on the show.

This year’s competition is particularly tough, with incredibly high standards and very close contenders, so the stakes are high. While details like the dances, costumes, and music will be a surprise until the event, one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be a lot of fun! I’m really excited!
You’ll be able to see the Instant Dance challenge near the end of Strictly’s live show on Saturday, November 29th, after all six couples have finished their regular performances.
This week, seven couples will be headed to Blackpool to perform in the iconic ballroom.
The couples still competing are Alex Kingston with Johannes Radebe, Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon, George Clarke paired with Alexis Warr, Karen Carney and Carlos Gu, La Voix with Aljaž Škorjanec, Lewis Cope and Katya Jones, and Amber Davies with Nikita Kuzmin.
These competitors have consistently demonstrated they deserve to be here. Blackpool is going to be fantastic!
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 21st November at 6:35pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
