James Gunn’s leadership is revitalizing the DC Universe. After a rocky period for DC films, the new projects are receiving positive feedback from critics and fans, giving the franchise a clear direction. This success has led to exciting plans, including a sequel to Superman called Man of Tomorrow, scheduled for 2027. The movie will explore a new path for the universe, with Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) surprisingly joining forces with Superman (David Corenswet) to protect Earth from the villain Brainiac. Like the previous Superman film, Man of Tomorrow is expected to be a large-scale event, bringing together many DC characters, and a recent casting call hints at the introduction of a major female hero.
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the upcoming film Man of Tomorrow is casting a woman in her twenties for an important part. Nexus Point News adds that producers are looking for actresses who are taller, athletic, and have a commanding presence, describing the character as a “warrior.” This combination of requirements has led fans to believe DC Studios is searching for someone to play a key heroic character, potentially Wonder Woman, who will be a central figure in the new DC Universe for years to come.
James Gunn, one of the heads of the studio, has said that Wonder Woman is a key focus. Bringing her into a big movie like Man of Tomorrow could generate excitement for her planned solo film, which is currently being written. Although it’s possible they’re casting for a different DC hero, the description of the role seems to fit Wonder Woman very closely.
If Not Wonder Woman, Who Is the New Man of Tomorrow Female Hero?

Although many fans are hoping for Wonder Woman, several other strong DC heroines could also be the character being cast. Considering the villain in the upcoming film is the alien Brainiac, the new hero might also be an extraterrestrial. Big Barda is a strong possibility – she’s a tall, powerfully built New God warrior, fitting the description perfectly. Introducing her would also tie into the planned Mister Miracle animated series. Starfire is another good fit; this powerful Tamaranean princess is both regal and fierce, which aligns with what the casting team is looking for. Plus, with a Teen Titans movie in the works, her appearance feels even more plausible.
The mysterious hero role could also be filled by an Earth-based character. Black Canary, a highly skilled martial artist, would be a great fit, as the description of a tough “warrior” suits her well. Zatanna is another possibility, especially since her famous Vesuvius nightclub has already appeared in the DCU in photos from the set of Clayface. With rumors that Doctor Fate will be in Man of Tomorrow, DC Studios might be focusing more on supernatural characters. Finally, Vixen could be a strong contender. Her unique power, granted by the Tantu Totem, allows her to take on the abilities of any animal, making her a versatile and powerful fighter who would need a physically strong actor.
Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to be released in 2027.
