CBS is excited about the future of Justin Hartley’s popular show, which has quickly become their most-watched program and continues to grow in viewership.
The show is currently airing Season 3, a few episodes in, and will reach the halfway point on December 7th before taking a longer break. Season 3 has continued to be a hit, especially with the return of Jensen Ackles as Russell Shaw, brother to Hartley’s character Colter Shaw, and has consistently been among the most-watched shows. However, CBS has announced a significant change to the show’s schedule.
CBS is changing the time slot for Tracker when it comes back from its break. Instead of 8 p.m. Eastern, new episodes will now air at 9 p.m. Eastern, starting on Sunday, March 1st. The good news is the show will still premiere on that date, running from 9 to 10 p.m. Eastern.
These changes are happening because of new shows debuting mid-season, including a spin-off of FBI. This spin-off faced several delays, but will now premiere on February 23, 2026.
Alongside the new series, Y: Marshals, a spinoff of Yellowstone, there are some changes to the Sunday night lineup. Y: Marshals will premiere in the timeslot currently held by Tracker at 8 pm ET on March 1st. Following Tracker, Watson will air at 10 p.m., also starting on Sunday.
I have to say, CBS is really onto something with Tracker. The numbers are in, and it’s a clear winner – it’s brought in a huge audience across all platforms in its first week. We’re talking significantly more viewers than ABC’s High Potential, which, while doing well in its second season, still fell about 1.5 million short. And that’s saying something, because High Potential‘s second season itself was a big jump from where it started! Tracker is clearly resonating with audiences.
Tracker Is Unstoppable
CBS’s Tracker has proven to be very popular since it first aired. It launched on February 11, 2024, attracting 18.44 million viewers during Super Bowl night. Although ratings didn’t stay that high, each of the three seasons has consistently averaged about 7 to 8 million viewers per episode.
After a significant change at the start of Season 3, the show demonstrated its resilience. The departure of Abby McEnany and Eric Graise was unexpected, especially since Robin Weigert (Teddi) had left after Season 2. Despite losing these three key cast members, Tracker continued to move forward and maintain its momentum.
New episodes of Tracker will air on Sundays through December 7th, when it takes a mid-season break. The rest of Season 3 will begin on March 1st at 9 p.m.
