Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will include many of the same features as Black Ops 6, but Ranked Play won’t be available at launch this year, just like last year.
Call of Duty games, including Black Ops 7, haven’t traditionally included Ranked Play when they first launch. In fact, Black Ops 7 players will have to wait quite a while before that mode becomes available.
Treyarch first hinted at Ranked Play during the COD Next event in September. Now, here’s everything you need to know about when it’s coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and what it will offer.
CoD BO7 Ranked Play release date speculation

Ranked Play for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is scheduled to launch with Season 2 in 2026. Although a specific date hasn’t been announced, Season 2 typically starts around the end of January, following the pattern of previous years.
It should become available around the same time as the new season, or within a week or two after it starts. This will give the developers a chance to fix any issues and make sure everything is working well, so you won’t have to wait until the season is over.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s ranked play is launching early, similar to how it happened with Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3. We expect to learn more details, including the official release date, in January.
Treyarch hasn’t shared many details about how Ranked Play will change in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, including any adjustments to ranks or the overall system. Because of this, it’s likely the new Ranked Play will function much like it did in Black Ops 6, and may even be identical.
We’ll continue to update this article with the newest details as they become available, so check back often. You can watch a replay of COD Next below.
