D4vd Named a Suspect in Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s Death

There have been new developments during the investigation into the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Police have identified 14-year-old singer D4vd as a person of interest in the death of a young woman whose body was found in the trunk of his Tesla two months ago, according to NBC4, ABC7, and TMZ.

According to a Los Angeles police source speaking with NBC4, the musician D4vd (whose legal name is David Anthony Burke) hasn’t been fully cooperating with the investigation into the death of Rivas Hernandez. Police believe Hernandez likely died sometime in the spring and suspect Burke, age 20, may have had assistance in concealing her body.

TopMob News contacted the LAPD for a statement, but a spokesperson said they couldn’t verify the information due to the active investigation.

D4vd hasn’t been charged with any crime and no one has been arrested in connection with the investigation. After a body was found, a representative for D4vd stated he is working with law enforcement.

TopMob News has reached out to D4vd’s lawyer Blair Berk for comment but has not heard back.

D4vd hasn’t publicly commented on the situation, but after the case began in September, he transferred ownership of two of his Houston, Texas homes to his mother, according to documents obtained by TMZ in October.

The Tesla where Rivas Hernandez was found was first registered in Texas, officials told ABC News.

Police found the teenager’s body inside a car at a Hollywood tow yard on September 8th after being called to investigate a bad smell. The body was identified as Rivas Hernandez, who had been missing since April 5, 2024, and was last seen in Lake Elsinore, California – more than 70 miles from where the car was located.

According to law enforcement sources who spoke with ABC News, the Tesla was parked near a house in the Hollywood Hills where singer D4vd was staying before his Withered World Tour. That tour has now been cancelled.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this story closely. According to the Los Angeles Times, detectives searched the property back in late September. Sources familiar with the investigation – though they weren’t able to speak on the record – told the Times that they found electronics and computers at the home on Sunset Blvd.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office told TMZ that the body of Rivas Hernandez was given to her family on September 23rd. However, the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division released a statement on September 29th saying the medical examiner still hadn’t determined how or why she died.

D4vd, whose full name is David Anthony Burke, was born in Queens, New York, and later moved to Houston, Texas, at the age of 13.

As someone who’s seen a lot of creators come up, I always say finding your niche is key! D4vd actually started out like many young people today – streaming games like Fortnite, hoping to build a following on YouTube. But he hit a common roadblock in 2021: music copyright issues. That’s when he turned to his mom for help, and honestly, that’s a really relatable starting point for a lot of creative journeys!

He described a conversation with his mom, telling Benny Blanco for Hero magazine in September 2024 that he’d basically complained to her about not making any money. She was on the phone at the time and told him to just make his own music and leave her alone. That’s when it hit him – he realized he could actually do that.

I was amazed when I first discovered D4vd! He hadn’t had any formal musical training, just enjoyed singing as a hobby. Then, he started creating music right on his phone using an app. It wasn’t long before his songs began blowing up online, and after a few more tracks went viral on TikTok, his career just took off – it’s been incredible to watch!

He finally put out his first album, Withered, in April 2025, and quickly followed it up with his first tour around the world.

On September 8th, police were called to a Hollywood tow yard after reports of a bad smell coming from a car, according to NBC News sources.

Los Angeles police discovered human remains inside a bag hidden in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to David Anthony Burke, who performs as D4vd, and the vehicle was registered in Hempstead, Texas.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I was driving around, practically searching for any sign of him, and I found his car! Well, not exactly found… it was just… sitting there, abandoned, up in the Hollywood Hills. The police had already taken it, poor thing, and it’s now at the impound lot. I’m just… I need to go check, maybe there’s a clue! It’s probably nothing, but I have to know!

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on September 16th that remains found in a Tesla belonged to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been missing since April 5, 2024. She was 13 years old when she disappeared.

Records from the Medical Examiner’s Office, obtained by TopMob News on September 17th, show that a final cause of death hasn’t been determined. While her body was found on September 8th, officials believe it had been in the car for a significant amount of time beforehand and was badly decomposed.

After learning about the death of Rivas Hernandez, a representative for D4vd told NBC News that the singer has been notified and is working with authorities while continuing his tour.

Since then, D4vd canceled the remainder of his U.S. dates.
