**Warning: Contains spoilers for the Hazbin Hotel season 2 finale.**
The second season of Hazbin Hotel is ending with a chaotic climax. Even though Heaven is no longer a danger, Vox has stirred up a lot of trouble in Hell. Driven to become a god, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants.
Now that Lucifer is trapped in the weapon Vox tricked Carmilla Carmine into creating, Vox is close to winning. He uses Lucifer’s power to break through Heaven’s defenses, leaving it vulnerable. Charlie was already struggling, and with Alastor captured and Angel Dust gone missing, she’s facing a huge challenge trying to prevent a war with Heaven.
There’s still hope! The hotel’s quirky group of guests has come up with a plan to prove Sir Pentious is in Heaven. They believe if sinners see the evidence, they’ll stop supporting Vox. Heaven is eager to help, as Sera is determined to make up for her past. However, to get their message out, they need to break into V Tower.
To make things even more challenging, they have to rescue Angel while trapped inside Vox’s lair. This final confrontation with Vox is a massive task, to say the least. Let’s get straight into the details of the Hazbin Hotel season finale.
Hazbin Hotel season 2 ending explained: Does Vox take over heaven?
Vox’s shift into the main villain in season 2 has been really well done. Throughout the season, his relentless drive for power consistently allowed him to defeat Charlie. However, as he’s become more ambitious, the dangers have increased, and in the season finale, his overconfidence ultimately leads to his downfall.
Vox, always eager to be the most powerful troublemaker in Hell, accidentally releases Alastor, who is now seeking revenge on the one who imprisoned him. While Vox dreams of controlling both Hell and Heaven, his obsession with defeating Alastor ultimately leads to his ruin.

Consumed by his pride, Vox turns into a monstrous spider. But with his full power restored, Alastor is still the stronger of the two. Vox isn’t defeated yet, though – he has a final plan. He summons his pet to distract Alastor while he uses a weapon originally belonging to Carmilla, not to attack Heaven, but to target Alastor himself.
The people he desperately tried to save are now forgotten, as Vox is determined to demolish everything – even if it means destroying half of Pentagram City.
Everything seemed hopeless until Velvette intervened, attacking Vox. This distraction allowed Val to finally confront his partner and lover. Furious that Vox had endangered everyone over a deer, Val violently ripped Vox’s head off. However, even with Vox defeated, the dangerous weapon remained active, and no one could figure out how to disable it.
Is Pentagram City saved?
We’ve dealt with one danger, but a potentially even greater one has taken its place. Carmilla believes escape is impossible, stating, “It’s no use, we won’t get clear in time.” It appears all hope is lost.
Despite being hurt by Vox’s weapon after being caught in the battle, Emily keeps fighting. She struggles toward the machine, determined to use her abilities to permanently disable it.

Her courage inspires others to act, sparking a collective effort to save the day. Gradually, the characters pool their strengths, demonstrating a final burst of hope and teamwork. Even the Vees contribute, and together, they manage to move the dangerous weapon far enough away to prevent an explosion, ultimately saving Pentagram City.
As for Lucifer, he was secretly trapped within the weapon, but he did survive, though he was seriously injured. Given the unusual connection developing between Alastor and Lucifer, it’s fitting that the King of Hell wasn’t killed.
Does Alastor break free of his deal?
Alastor, once a dominant figure, is now surprisingly in a vulnerable position this season. When he intentionally let Vox capture him, viewers questioned his motives. Now, his elaborate plan is finally coming to light.
When Alastor made his agreement with Vox, he had two requirements: Nifty and Husk were not to be harmed, and crucially, Vox absolutely couldn’t touch Charlie Morningstar. Alastor predicted this would be a particular issue, knowing how physically inclined Vox is.
Before Vox will physically interact with Charlie, he needs a boost of confidence. This is where Alastor’s agreement with Rosie becomes important. Alastor originally wanted to be the strongest demon in Hell, but now that Vox is captured, he’s gained power that could match Alastor’s – he just needs someone to acknowledge it.
Charlie is central to what happens next. Seeing her upset and vulnerable, Vox jumps at the opportunity to embarrass her by demanding she acknowledge him as the most powerful sinner in Hell. She’s hesitant, but Alastor steps in and asks her for a small favor, reminding her of a deal they made back in season one.
Cornered, Charlie reluctantly admits on camera that Vox is the most powerful. Immediately after, the chains holding Alastor to Rosie snap. Lost in his excitement, Vox puts his hands on Charlie’s shoulders, unintentionally breaking the deal he had with Alastor and freeing him.
What happens to Angel Dust?
Even though Husk and Cherri saved Angel, he’s struggling with the fact that he unknowingly worked as a spy for Vox. To make things worse, Angel nearly killed Cherri while she was trying to help him, because he was under orders from Val to do so.
Although Angel eventually regained composure thanks to Husk’s help, his overwhelming guilt is what ultimately keeps him loyal to the Vees.
As a result, Angel departs the hotel and goes back to V Tower with the Vees, which pleases Val immensely. Angel warns, “You’re not safe around me.” While Angel is leaving, Husk softly pleads with him to stay.

Does Charlie hear from Lilith?
Throughout the season, Charlie repeatedly tried reaching out to her mother by leaving voicemails, but the Queen of Hell consistently ignored him. This caused Charlie a lot of pain, but after Vox was defeated, he appears to have accepted that his mother isn’t going to respond.
She ended her call to her mother by letting her know she’d be available whenever she wanted to talk. As soon as she hung up, Lilith unexpectedly called Charlie back, leaving him surprised.
