Netflix is facing a major loss of content, potentially the biggest since The Office moved to Peacock. Because Netflix hasn’t created many long-lasting shows of its own, losing popular series that it licenses from other studios is a big deal. This December, a hugely popular show with 15 seasons – one that many people still enjoy watching – will be leaving the platform.
Netflix announced today that all 15 seasons of Supernatural will be removed from its streaming service next month. The show, about monster hunting, will be available to watch until December 17th, with all episodes disappearing on December 18th.
Currently, there’s no news on where fans will be able to stream Supernatural in the future, but many expect it to land on HBO Max. This makes sense, as Warner Bros. Television produced the show.
Originally debuting on The WB in 2005 (later becoming The CW), Supernatural was a long-running and highly popular show on network television. Starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, the series ran for 15 seasons and 327 episodes, concluding in November 2020. It’s been consistently available on Netflix, even while new episodes were still airing. Now, fans will need to find where the show lands next, as it’s leaving the platform. Luckily, Supernatural has a dedicated fanbase, and physical copies of the series are easy to find.
Leaving Netflix in December
December will see a lot of content removed from Netflix, with Supernatural likely being the most popular show to go. It’s not the only CW series departing, though. All seasons of Arrow and the complete sci-fi series The 100 will be leaving on the same day as Supernatural.

Okay, so it looks like a bunch of titles are leaving streaming at the end of the year. As a movie buff, I’m a little sad to see some of these go! On December 1st, classics like the Austin Powers films, the Back to the Future trilogy, and Beverly Hills Cop are all disappearing. There’s also Clueless, E.T., and The Goonies – some real feel-good movies. By December 3rd, all nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother will be gone. Then, throughout the month, things like Compliance, Gods of Egypt, the Daddy’s Home movies, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films, and all seasons of The 100, Arrow, and Supernatural are also leaving. Towards the very end of the year, I’ll be saying goodbye to the Transformers films, 10 Things I Hate About You, Idiocracy, Sweet Home Alabama, Ready Player One, and the first three seasons of Evil. It’s definitely a bit of a purge, so if you want to watch any of these, now’s the time!
