Jujutsu Kaisen Unveils First Look At Season 3’s Most Crucial Character

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga! Following the huge success of the recent movie, Jujutsu Kaisen: The Execution, Season 3 of the series is scheduled to premiere in January 2026. The movie covers events from the Shibuya Incident Arc and the first two episodes of the new season. The anime will continue the story in Season 3, which will be split into two parts. More information about the number of episodes and how MAPPA will divide these parts will be announced later. The new season will first adapt the Itadori’s Extermination and Perfect Preparation arcs, and then move on to the much-awaited Culling Game.

As the story heats up, Jujutsu Kaisen will be introducing several new characters who are central to the plot. One of these is Master Tengen, a character fans may already know about, but who will finally appear in the anime. Yoshiko Sakakibara, who narrated the Shibuya Incident Arc, will be providing the voice for Master Tengen, emphasizing their importance. Master Tengen has remained largely a mystery since the Gojo’s Past Arc, but they hold a vital piece of information – the key to freeing Gojo from the Prison Realm. The anime’s official website has released a first look at the character, along with comments from the voice actor.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Reveals Master Tengen’s Character Design

Master Tengen is a powerful, immortal Jujutsu sorcerer. His current form is the result of a failed attempt to merge with Riko Amanai, known as the Star Plasma Vessel. The official website recently released details about his design and includes an interview with his voice actor, offering interesting information about the character. Because the original interview was conducted in Japanese, translator @Go_Jover has provided an English version.

Sakakibara reasoned that someone with powerful protective abilities, who’s lived for over 500 years due to a special cursed technique granting them a form of immortality, and who intentionally avoids close relationships with their worshippers, would likely be quite shrewd and clever.

She explained that she’s been considering what it means to live for over 500 years without experiencing death, and what kind of perspective that creates. She feels that to accurately play the character of Tengen, she needs to constantly grapple with these profound, unanswerable questions.

Tengen is a mysterious character; we know very little about his history or motivations. Despite not being a major presence throughout the story, he’s undeniably crucial to the plot. While the manga doesn’t establish Tengen as the narrator, the anime adaptation’s choice to present him this way adds a new layer to his character, hinting at the vast knowledge he’s accumulated over his 500 years and enriching his understanding of the cursed world.
