Okay, after just one episode of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman Season 2, which just hit TV screens last week, I’m already feeling uneasy about Cooper and Ariana. Their relationship has always felt…complicated, starting as it did after the tragic accident that took Ariana’s husband. Now, it looks like they’re about to come into a significant amount of wealth, and honestly, I’m bracing for impact. As the wise Biggie Smalls once warned us, more money usually means more problems, and I have a feeling that’s exactly where Cooper and Ariana are headed.

Family Relationships Are Dicey
I’m completely captivated by the family dynamics in Landman, which you can stream on Paramount+. Honestly, the relationships are intense. Take Tommy, played by Billy Bob Thornton – his connection with Angela (Ali Larter) is a whirlwind of arguments and, surprisingly, passion. And don’t even get me started on his strained communication with Ainsley (Michelle Randolph)! It seems like Tommy struggles to connect with pretty much everyone in the Norris family, creating a lot of drama. It’s a wild ride watching it all unfold!
Cooper generally tries to avoid conflict, as seen when he left while Angela was upset during the dinner scene in the second season’s first episode. Instead of discussing his recent financial gain with his father, he chose to postpone the conversation. However, I’m worried this money – potentially around $20 million, or even more – could cause problems for both Cooper and Ariana, as they don’t seem prepared to handle such a large sum.

Cooper And Angela’s Relationship Is Also Fraught
Psychologists often warn that relationships formed during difficult times, such as after a loss like a husband’s death, are likely to be challenging. This situation is even more complicated for Ariana and Cooper, as her late husband’s family doesn’t approve of their relationship. Add to that the stress of a new baby, and they faced significant obstacles from the start. The financial aspects of their situation only add to the complexity.
It’s a common misconception that money fixes everything, but usually it just creates new issues. For Cooper, the money he’s about to make from the oil wells will likely make life much more difficult, and I suspect it will put a strain on his relationships, especially with Ariana. From what I’ve seen, Ariana doesn’t quite understand the extent of what’s coming.

This Is All On Top Of The Insanity Of Landman, In General
Like Taylor Sheridan’s other shows, Landman is completely wild. Tommy is being pursued by drug cartels, Cami Miller (Demi Moore) steps up after her husband Monty (Jon Hamm) passes away, and Cooper has hit the jackpot. And that’s just the beginning – Ainsley and Angela are also caught up in a lot of drama, and hopefully they’ll have bigger roles this season than they did at the end of Season 1.
You know, I’ve really grown to adore Cooper and Angela together. Honestly, I initially thought they were a terrible match, but their relationship has actually become surprisingly sweet. Though, I’m still a little worried it might not last. I’m really hoping they can navigate this huge change in their lives and find a way to make things work.
