Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Release Date Report Is Bad News for Fans

Recent reports suggest fans shouldn’t expect Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet to come out for quite a while. Naughty Dog, a well-known and successful game developer, typically has the resources to create large-scale projects. Their last full game release was The Last of Us Part II in 2020, near the end of the PlayStation 4’s lifespan. They had planned another game, an online version of The Last of Us, in the meantime, but that project was ultimately cancelled. This means it’s been a significant amount of time since their last release.

We first heard about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet last year, but there haven’t been many substantial updates since. While we’ve gotten small hints about the game’s world and atmosphere, we still don’t know much about it overall. Because Naughty Dog is a highly respected developer, fans are eager for more information, but it seems like we’ll have to wait a while before we can actually play Intergalactic.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Is Not Releasing Next Year, Claims Insider

Last week, a prediction by Colin Moriarty of Last Stand Media that the game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet would come out in 2026 caused a stir online. Many people quickly assumed this was a leak or inside information about Naughty Dog’s plans, but that wasn’t true. However, the discussion did lead to something: gaming journalist Jason Schreier confirmed on Reddit that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is not scheduled for release in 2026.

Although it’s possible he’s mistaken, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier is generally very reliable, especially when reporting on Naughty Dog. Based on his reporting, it’s likely Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet won’t be released until 2027 at the soonest. This isn’t necessarily a negative, though, as Naughty Dog would face stiff competition if it released next year. GTA 6 and Marvel’s Wolverine are already slated for release in the fall, and there could be other major games launching around the same time.

I was so excited to hear Troy Baker recently told ComicBook that they’re still doing performance capture for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet! He mentioned chatting with Neil Druckmann after a table read, and it sounds like they’re still in the middle of getting everyone recorded. It’s great to know they’re really putting the work in, even now – it means the game is still actively being developed!
