Lindsay Arnold‘s troupe is expanding.
Former Dancing With the Stars contestant is expecting her third child with husband Sam Cusick. They are already parents to daughters Sage, 5, and June, 2.
Lindsay announced on Instagram November 24th that she and her family are expecting their third child. She shared a photo of a sonogram and expressed how incredibly happy and thankful they are.
She sent a sweet message to her unborn baby, saying, “We already love you so much and are excited to finally meet you!”
Everyone was thrilled for the 31-year-old, and her Dancing with the Stars family was no exception. Witney Carson shared her excitement in a comment, writing, “I CANT WAIT FOR BABY CUSICK!!!”
OMG, I’m seriously losing it right now! Jenna Johnson just posted the most amazing thing – she congratulated my favorite couple, like, seriously the cutest family ever! And then Sasha Farber chimed in with ‘Itsssss happening!!!!’ – I knew it! I just knew something incredible was coming and it’s finally here! I’m so happy for them, I could scream!
Lindsay’s sister, Rylee Arnold, who is currently competing on season 34 of Dancing with the Stars with Scott Hoying from Pentatonix, excitedly wrote, “Yay!!!! Another perfect little angel.”
Lindsay is expecting a baby three years after she stopped dancing professionally to focus on her family in Utah. In a TikTok video from 2022, she shared that she wants to fully enjoy this special time with her children because it goes by so quickly, and she doesn’t want to miss any of it.
I truly cherished my career and everything it gave me, but family always came first. Even with all the travel and success, I always found my way back to Utah during the off-season to be with my loved ones. It’s a special place for me, and honestly, it’s where I envision raising my family – it just feels like home.
Lindsay shared that she feels incredibly supported by the people around her. She especially relies on her sisters, who are all mothers and her closest friends, but also highlighted the amazing support she receives from her community in Utah.
She isn’t the only professional dancer to openly discuss leaving Dancing with the Stars. Here’s what some of her former colleagues said about their reasons for quitting.

I really enjoyed my time there – it was great for my career and I had amazing experiences. But I always made time to return to Utah between seasons to be with my family, and that’s ultimately where I want to raise them.”

Artem was surprised and upset when he learned he wouldn’t be competing professionally in season 28 of 2019. He described the conversations about his departure as difficult, sharing his feelings on The Bellas Podcast with his then-partner, Nikki Garcia (formerly Nikki Bella).
The dancer, a popular figure on the show who joined as a professional in 2014, learned he was let go just days before the official cast announcement. He described the experience as similar to a breakup, reflecting on a decade dedicated to the show. ‘To have that happen three days before the announcement felt like a real gut punch,’ he said.
He then came back for seasons 29-32, even winning one with Kaitlyn Bristowe.

Derek is one of the most beloved professional dancers in the show’s history, and he’s won more mirrorball trophies than anyone else – a total of six. He’s also a highly acclaimed choreographer, having won four Emmy Awards for his work.
He competed on the show for seasons 5 through 11, took a break for season 12 to film a movie, and then returned for seasons 13 through 21. He was unexpectedly added to season 20, requiring him to balance his commitments to the show with a Broadway performance. Season 23 was his last as a professional dancer.
He was a judge on Jennifer Lopez’s dance competition show, World of Dance, before joining the judging panel of Dancing with the Stars starting with season 29 in 2020.

After three seasons and two wins, Julianne announced she was leaving the ABC reality hit in 2008.
She told Ryan Seacrest that she wanted to concentrate on her music and be seen as a serious artist.
Despite initially leaving, she returned for season eight in 2009 because her boyfriend at the time, country singer Chuck Wicks, was competing. They were partnered together and finished in sixth place. This season marked her last appearance as a professional dancer on the show.
Julianne rejoined the show as a regular judge for seasons 19 through 21, and again for seasons 23 and 24. Before returning to Dancing with the Stars in 2023 as a co-host, she had also been a judge on America’s Got Talent.

Mark joined the show in its fifth season and danced as a professional for an incredible 18 seasons, winning two championships. He took a break for seasons 23 and 24 to star as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys on Broadway, but returned to compete in season 25, where he and Lindsey Stirling finished as runners-up.
Okay, so after everything, Mark really threw himself into music – and with BC Jean, of course! They formed this amazing duo called Alexander Jean, and I was so thrilled when they actually got signed to a record label! I knew they had something special, and it was incredible to see them get that recognition. I’ve been following their journey ever since!
He returned for season 31 with Charli D’Amelio and season 34 with Whitney Leavitt.

Karina was a professional dancer on the show for seasons 3 through 9, and then took a short break during season 10. She returned for the next nine seasons before taking another brief time off in season 20. She explained she wanted to pursue other projects, including writing a book.
She ended up returning for two more outings, but Karina officially left DWTS after season 22.
After retiring from dancing, Smirnoff appeared on the reality show Famously Single and eventually returned to professional dancing. In 2017, she explained that she still enjoyed her time on the ABC series and hadn’t completely closed the door on potentially returning.
Dancing with celebrities on the show is fun, but it’s a unique dynamic. You end up being more than just a dance partner – you’re also their instructor, support system, and motivator, I told Fox News. However, when you dance with a professional partner, it’s a true collaboration between equals, and that’s a different kind of performance. I really missed that feeling when I was paired with celebrities.

Oh, Maks.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen a lot of drama unfold, and this pro dancer definitely has a story! He’s been a fan favorite for years, but it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. He’s had his disagreements with the judges and even some friction with his celebrity partners. In fact, he’s left the show and come back several times – it all started back in 2012 when he initially announced he was leaving to try his hand at acting.
After fifteen seasons, he questioned what more he could contribute, telling the New York Post that it was understandable why both he and the audience wouldn’t expect him to continue. He felt it made total sense that he, and the show’s producers, wouldn’t want to keep going.
He came back for season 18 and finally won with Meryl Davis, but left the show immediately after. He returned again for seasons 23 through 25, but famously missed a performance when paired with Vanessa Lachey.
Maks is now married to professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd, and when he wasn’t competing, he sometimes appeared as a guest judge.

The popular Australian contestant first appeared in the show’s second season and participated in every season after that until she won in season nine. She took a break for season ten, then competed in six seasons straight before taking another three seasons off.
Luckily, she came back for season 20 and was partnered with Robert Herjavec from Shark Tank – they eventually married! After falling in love, Kym took a few seasons off, then returned for one last season as a professional dancer in season 24.
Kym announced she was expecting twins in January 2018 and shared that she was retiring from professional dancing. While she said she wouldn’t dance competitively again, she left the door open to potentially returning to Dancing with the Stars in a different role.
She expressed interest in returning to the show in some capacity, like as a judge or participant, and she later appeared as a guest judge on season 34.

Sharna, a professional dancer who previously won season 27 with Bobby Bones and had been a runner-up three times in her 12 seasons on the show, shared her reaction on Instagram after not being chosen as a pro for season 28.
She shared that her time on the show felt like a formative experience. She expressed how much she’ll miss the creative process, telling stories through dance, and the joy of helping others discover their potential through movement. She also said she’ll cherish the daily inspiration she received from her ‘Dancing with the Stars’ family and watching them excel at their art.
Sharna has been announced as the newest judge on the Australian version of the popular reality dancing competition, and she’s hinted at some exciting things to come on the show.
She returned for seasons 29 and 30 and was paired with Brian Austin Green, whom she started dating during that time.

Cheryl quickly became a standout on the show, making history as the first female professional dancer to win and the first to win two seasons in a row, starting in season two. After an impressive run of 18 seasons, she announced her departure before season 20. While rumors suggested she was considering a role on a new variety show at NBC that never materialized, she returned for season 23, took a season off, and then couldn’t resist coming back for a special season that marked a milestone for both her and the show.
Hi everyone! I’m thrilled to be back for season 25! As many of you know, I danced with Ryan Lochte last season, and I really missed being on the dance floor. This is actually my 20th season with Dancing With the Stars, so it’s a special anniversary year for both the show and me, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it!
Cheryl married Matthew Lawrence in May 2019 and returned for season 28, but she left the show again in 2022. She did make one final appearance as a guest judge on season 34.

Peta first appeared on the show in season 13 and quickly became a popular contestant, participating in every season until season 20 – and even winning once! Unfortunately, a severe ankle injury kept her from competing in season 21.
She made a successful comeback in season 22, winning the competition with her partner, Nyle DiMarco. Then, just six months after having her first child, she competed in season 25 with Nick Lachey before taking another break from Dancing with the Stars.
Okay, so you will NOT believe how excited I was when Peta came back to Dancing with the Stars! I seriously missed her! She’d been away for three seasons, being a mom to her adorable little Shai with Maks – can you imagine?! They were just living their best lives, and honestly, good for them! But then… she was back on the ballroom floor, and I nearly lost it. It was like a dream come true!
She told US Weekly she was thrilled to be returning, explaining she’d been hoping and working towards this for months. She felt the timing was right for her family, as her husband, Maks, had other commitments and their daughter, Shai, was in good hands. It simply felt like the perfect moment for everyone.
Her most recent run was on season 32.

Tony Dovolani began competing on Dancing with the Stars in its second season and participated for 20 seasons straight, winning once. His last partner on the show was Marla Maples, during season 22.
Tony shared on Instagram that he’s leaving the show, saying he’ll miss performing and connecting with viewers, but he wants to dedicate more time to expanding his Dance With Me USA studios and teaching. He also plans to travel and continue performing at events.

The dancer, who first became known on So You Think You Can Dance, became a professional on the show in season 19 and competed for two more seasons. She took a break during season 22 after announcing she was pregnant with her second child with her husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who is also a SYTYCD alum, during a live episode of Dancing with the Stars.
Six months after having her baby, Allison came back for her 23rd season, which turned out to be the final one of her professional career.
She announced on Instagram that she won’t be competing on Dancing with the Stars this season. She expressed her love for the show and its people, and said she’s excited to see everyone compete this year.

Lacey became a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars after finishing fourth on season three of So You Think You Can Dance. She appeared on DWTS from seasons 7 through 13, with a brief stint as a troupe member in season 10.
Following the thirteenth season of Dancing with the Stars, Lacey shared that she was departing the show to pursue other projects, such as recording an album and launching a clothing line.
I need to take a break and prioritize what’s important right now,” she told SheKnows. “I’m working on better managing my time.
