Based on the current situation, it appears that fans of the “Star Trek: Prodigy” series might not get to see a Season 3. There’s a strong possibility that Netflix is considering cancelling the show permanently. This animated series made its debut on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon in 2021 and has covered two seasons thus far. Despite anticipation for news about “Star Trek: Prodigy” being renewed for another season, recent rumors suggest that the series is likely to be canceled altogether.
Rumors suggest Star Trek: Prodigy series won’t be renewed for Season 3
According to Matt Webb Mitovich’s recent update, Star Trek: Prodigy seems to be moving towards an official cancellation by Netflix.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly following TVLine’s Inside Line, and in the latest edition, I got some fascinating insights about the future of various shows. Among them is the upcoming animated adventure within the Star Trek universe.
According to Mitovich’s comments, it seems extremely improbable that Star Trek: Prodigy will have a Season 3. Here’s why:
1. Firstly, the first season of the animated series is no longer available on Netflix because Netflix let the license expire.
2. Secondly, Paramount Global Content Distribution has been marketing Season 2 as its “Final Season.”
3. Lastly, a reliable source has confirmed that there have been no developments concerning a potential Season 3.
Developed by Kevin and Dan Hageman, the series initially debuted on Paramount+. Unfortunately, the broadcaster chose to discontinue it after only one season. Later, Netflix acquired Star Trek: Prodigy and reinstated it for another season. The show then made its appearance on the streaming service in 2024. Since then, no positive news about a potential Season 3 for Star Trek: Prodigy has been announced.
Currently, Netflix no longer offers the first season of Star Trek: Prodigy, and it’s anticipated that the second season will also leave the platform in the near future. As we speak, there’s uncertainty about where these two seasons will be streamed once they depart from Netflix.
