Netflix has confirmed that a third season of its live-action One Piece series is in the works, and they’re starting to build anticipation even before season two is released. The streaming service is hinting at characters who will appear in the highly anticipated Alabasta Arc. While the villain Crocodile will appear in season two, many of his followers will become important in season three. To get fans excited, Netflix has already announced some of the actors who will play key members of Crocodile’s organization, Baroqueworks.
During the Alabasta Arc of One Piece, the Straw Hats encounter formidable villains Mr. 1 and Miss Doublefinger, who battle Zoro and Nami respectively. The live-action adaptation has cast Awdo Awdo as Mr. 1, marking one of his first significant roles. Daisy Head, a more established actress known for her work in films like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, The Sandman, Wrong Turn, and Underworld: Blood Wars, will play Doublefinger. While we haven’t seen the actors in costume yet, it’s likely their portrayals will stay true to the original characters, consistent with the rest of the cast.
One Piece’s Third Season Casting
Season three of One Piece will bring back the show’s main actors, and the Alabasta Arc will introduce several new faces to the live-action world. Cole Escola will play the villain Bon Clay, Sendhil Ramamurthy will join as Nefartari Cobra, and Xolo Mariduena will portray Luffy’s brother, Portgas D. Ace. Although the cast is growing, there are still many villainous roles yet to be filled.
Currently, Netflix hasn’t announced if there will be a fourth season of the show. However, with so much content available in the original manga and anime, the Straw Hat pirates could have plenty of adventures for years to come. After the Alabasta storyline, the show covered the events of the Skypeia Arc, where the pirates journeyed through the sky. With the anime already exceeding 1,100 episodes, fans are curious about how long the live-action series will last and which stories it will adapt before it concludes.
I’m watching the final arc of the manga and anime unfold, and it’s clear the creator, Eiichiro Oda, is really working towards wrapping up Luffy’s journey to become Pirate King. While Oda hasn’t given us a definite end date for the story on the Grand Line, I’m expecting some major, explosive battles before it all concludes.
