Pokemon Champions is also planned. While we likely won’t get a full picture of what’s coming until Pokemon Day 2026, many expect big announcements since it will be the franchise’s 30th anniversary. A recent discovery might give us our first hint of what to expect in 2026.
2025 celebrated Eevee with lots of related merchandise at the Pokemon Center, boosted by the popular Prismatic Evolutions trading card game expansion. Now, all signs point to 2026 being dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise – The Pokemon Company made a big splash for its 25th anniversary in 2020, so a large celebration is expected. A recently discovered trademark filing, reported by PokeBeach, suggests we’ll be getting a new set of Pokemon TCG Cards to commemorate the milestone. Here’s a breakdown of what’s confirmed and what we can anticipate.
New Trademark Suggests 30th Anniversary Special Pokemon TCG Collection
PokeBeach recently discovered a trademark filing for “Celebration Collection.” Filed in Japan but written in English, this follows the usual pattern for new Pokémon Trading Card Game set trademarks. This strongly suggests Pokémon is planning a new set to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
Five years ago, a special set called Celebrations was released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. As you’d expect, this set looked back at classic cards and primarily featured Pokémon from the original Kanto region. All the cards in the Celebrations set included a unique stamp to show they were part of the anniversary release.
The Pokemon Company hasn’t officially announced any special Pokemon card sets for 2026 yet, and they haven’t shared much about their plans for the 30th anniversary overall. However, it’s very likely we’ll see some kind of celebration or special releases to mark the occasion.
A special Pokémon TCG set called Celebration Collection is expected to be released soon. Like previous anniversary sets, it will probably feature reprints of older cards with a unique promotional stamp. This would give collectors another chance to obtain rare cards from recent sets, assuming stores don’t sell out quickly.
In addition to the upcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game set, many fans believe we’ll see the announcement of the next generation of Pokémon video games – Generation 10 – on Pokémon Day 2026. It’s been several years since the last major Pokémon game release, and launching Generation 10 during Pokémon’s 30th anniversary would be a fitting milestone. Only time will tell what else The Pokémon Company has planned for 2026.
