A lot of people are still upset about Microsoft ending support for Windows 10 last month on October 14th. Reports indicate that this change has left around 400 million computers without operating system updates and support.

Users have a few options. They can upgrade to Windows 11, but their computer needs to meet Microsoft’s requirements. They can also pay for extended support for Windows 10, which will provide updates for another year. Another choice is to continue using Windows 10 without support, though this could leave them vulnerable to security and privacy risks. Finally, they could switch to a different operating system altogether.

Although Microsoft has just begun phasing out support for Windows 10, a recent report indicates many users are switching to Linux instead of staying with Windows.

Zorin, a Linux operating system aiming to compete with macOS and Windows, has now been downloaded over a million times. This milestone comes after a recent update that brought the operating system to version 18, as noted by Tom’s Hardware.

Zorin OS 18 has reached a major milestone – 1 million downloads in just over a month! This is a new record for us, and we’re incredibly excited.

Zorin OS

Interestingly, Zorin’s team reported that 78% of their downloads came from people using Windows. However, this doesn’t automatically mean that nearly 780,000 Windows 10 users switched to Zorin OS instead of upgrading to Windows 11.

TechRadar reports that the recent increase in downloads could be due to a few things, like people simply trying out the operating system without actually finishing the setup.

Zorin OS is a fast and efficient operating system that works well even on older computers, which is great news as Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 and concerns about technology becoming outdated grow. It’s also designed to be privacy-focused and looks and feels similar to Windows, making it easy to use.

A group known as End of 10 is encouraging people to switch from Windows 10 to Linux, anticipating that Windows 10 will soon be discontinued. Their campaign asks Windows 10 users to completely move away from Microsoft products and instead use Linux on older computers, emphasizing that Linux doesn’t have ads or track your data.

This announcement follows Microsoft’s recent plan to transform Windows into an operating system powered by AI, a move that many users have criticized.
