Supergirl Casts Silo Star as Key Character in DCU Movie

Supergirl has added a Reacher star to its cast.

Next year, audiences will be able to see Supergirl in U.S. theaters. The film, directed by Craig Gillespie, is part of the DC Universe and features Milly Alcock as Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Who has joined the cast of Supergirl?

Ferdinand Kingsley will play the role of Elias Knoll, Ruthye’s father, in the upcoming series Supergirl. The casting was revealed on Kingsley’s online resume, which is available on the website of his talent agency, Conway Van Gelder Grant.

As a big fan of fantasy and sci-fi, I’ve been really impressed with Kingsley’s recent work. You might recognize him as Hob Gadling in Netflix’s The Sandman, or George Wilkins from Silo on Apple TV+. He was also great as A.M. in the second season of Reacher. Looking back at his films, I enjoyed seeing him in The Last Legion years ago, and Dracula Untold was a fun ride. And of course, he’s popped up in some fantastic TV shows like Victoria, Still Star-Crossed, and even Doctor Who – he’s really versatile!

The upcoming Supergirl movie is based on the comic book series ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’ If the film closely follows the source material, the character played by Kingsley probably won’t have a large role, because his death is what sets the young Ruthye on a path of revenge against Krem of the Yellow Hills. Still, he’s a significant figure in the story, and the filmmakers could choose to show more of him through flashbacks or other techniques.

The new Supergirl comic, Woman of Tomorrow, begins with Kara Zor-El feeling lost and without direction. Despite surviving the destruction of her planet and coming to Earth to protect her cousin, Superman, she feels her life lacks purpose – everyone only knows her as his cousin. Just when she’s ready to give up, a young alien girl arrives seeking Supergirl’s help with a dangerous quest for revenge. This girl’s planet has been destroyed, and she’s determined to find those responsible, even if it means sacrificing everything. Together, Supergirl, a dog, and this heartbroken girl embark on a journey through space that will profoundly change them all.

Supergirl will be released on June 26, 2026.
