The Duggar sisters are sharing a difficult chapter in their lives.
Jinger, Jessa, and Joy-Anna shared thoughts about the heartbreaking experiences they each faced during their pregnancies.
In the July 9th episode of their podcast, Jinger shared that she was around six and a half to seven weeks pregnant, as stated during an uncommon interview with her two sisters on The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast. She had recently informed the family about the pregnancy, and since they were in L.A., they celebrated with a large Zoom gathering.
Their sweet moment was cut short after spotting later that night.
Jinger, who has children Felicity (6), Evangeline (4), and Finnegan (3 months) with Jeremy, remembered saying, “Oh, I guess it’ll be alright.” She acknowledged that others might have this situation without issues, but for her, it wasn’t. That night turned out to be the one where everything shifted into a state of uncertainty: “What’s going on here?
In a straightforward manner, the 31-year-old confessed that since her initial pregnancy went smoothly, she felt confident that everything would turn out well for her.
For Jinger, who is one of six children born to Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, the physical discomfort was intensified by the emotional strain of mourning while being far from her family. She expressed this feeling as, “I had Jer for support, but I also longed for my mother or a sister to be there with me.
After experiencing a miscarriage in 2019, Jinger voiced her concern about whether she’d be capable of carrying another pregnancy successfully. She expressed that there is an apprehension one must confront when anticipating another pregnancy.
In the meantime, Jessa shared that she experienced her initial miscarriage while she and her husband, Ben Seewald, were attending a wedding in the year 2020.
The reality TV personality, expecting their sixth child, revealed they recently visited the restroom and found an excessive amount of blood. Overwhelmed by emotions, they shared this unexpected situation just before attending a wedding. Despite feeling shaken, they acknowledged the need to compose themselves due to the journey and the occasion.
In the days ahead, the expectant couple, having just reached five weeks and planning to announce their pregnancy once they passed the first trimester, chose instead to reveal the news immediately, seeking support from their loved ones. Tragically, two years later, at 12 weeks, the 32-year-old endured her second miscarriage. Upon visiting the doctor, she discovered that the baby hadn’t had a heartbeat for several weeks prior.
Jessa, mother of Spurgeon (9), Henry (8), Ivy (6), Fern (3), and George (18 months), described it as an ‘incomplete miscarriage.’ This means there weren’t any obvious signs or symptoms that something was wrong, but her body hadn’t fully responded yet. She added, ‘It’s confusing because we had made it to the second trimester, a time when it’s usually considered safer. It’s like, “No, we’ve reached this milestone.”‘
For Joy-Anna, a joyful pregnancy with her second child turned tragic when she gave birth prematurely to their stillborn daughter, Annabell, at 17 weeks in the year 2019, along with her husband Austin Forsyth.
The couple delayed having another child for a year, following the birth of their oldest son, Gideon (now 7), who was delivered via an emergency C-section. However, when Joy-Anna noticed she hadn’t felt the baby move for several weeks, they visited the doctor. During this visit, the doctor’s expression fell as they discovered there was no heartbeat, a devastating revelation to Joy-Anna and Austin.
She explained, “A full week had passed before we went to the hospital and welcomed Annabell into the world there.” She admitted, “The entire delivery process was incredibly challenging for us.
The 27-year-old, who is a parent to Evelyn, aged 4, and Gunner, aged 2, together with Austin, expressed gratitude for having a strong network of support during this challenging time. However, she underscored that it was still an “exceptionally tough” experience.
Regardless of the stage of pregnancy, your body perceives itself as being pregnant,” she explained. “If you’re facing emotional challenges, physically, your body may be experiencing difficulties due to the stress it places on your overall system.
She added, “It takes a long time physically for your body to recover from that.”

Originally a loving couple who became high school sweethearts, these parents of 19 and grandparents to more than three dozen children first met in their teenage years.
Michelle reminisces about being rescued at the age of 15. On a particular night, Jim Bob was carrying out home visits for his Baptist church, leading him to knock on the Ruark family’s door. This was suggested by a friend who mentioned that “a school girl who recently found faith and is a cheerleader” resided there.
They extended an invitation for Michelle to attend Sunday school at their church, and Jim Bob expressed his hope that they could serve as each other’s spiritual mentors – even though it seemed their initial encounter didn’t leave a strong impression on Michelle. A year down the line, she applied for a position at the frozen yogurt store owned by Jim Bob’s parents. In a letter posted on their family blog in 2017 for Jim Bob’s birthday and their 33rd wedding anniversary, Michelle recalled their first encounter: “You stood behind the counter where I was working, and we exchanged introductions. You were reserved but kind! To be honest, I don’t recall much about that chat, except that you eventually gathered enough courage to ask me if I would accompany you to your junior-senior prom!
At Shiloh Christian, they both went to a dinner together. However, it was during the subsequent hours they spent at her house discussing the Bible that she realized there was something special between them. As Michelle puts it, “Our hearts became one from then on.” They completed high school in May 1984 and got married just a few months later in July, with Michelle being 17 years old and Jim Bob being 19.
The couple dedicated themselves to God and each other for the long run.
Jim Bob previously held the position of state legislator, representing Arkansas’s sixth district in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002. During his tenure, he served as vice chair of the House Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee. He attempted to secure a seat in the U.S. Senate in 2002, but this bid was unsuccessful in the primary. In 2006, he also failed to win the Republican nomination for Arkansas State Senate District 35.
They, along with Michelle, who are both real estate agents with valid licenses, have been actively involved in conservative movements – a part of their lifestyle that earned them admiration from supporters and criticism from opponents, including the reality TV show “19 Kids and Counting,” which initially premiered as “17 Kids and Counting” in 2008.
As of October 2024, they were grandparents of 33 with three on the way.
The oldest Duggar family member, Josh Duggar, was born on March 3, 1988. Similarly, he took up the role of a conservative activist, advocating for the Family Research Council.
In 2015, police records from the past emerged showing that he had been accused of inappropriately touching multiple girls, including his sisters Jessa Duggar and Jill Duggar, when he was a teenager. Later that year, Jessa spoke out on Fox News, stating that the harsh accusations against her brother were “excessive and false, truly. Many people get upset with me for saying this, but I can say it because I was one of the victims myself.
His spouse, Anna Duggar, stood by him even after their September 26, 2008 wedding (which was showcased on “19 Kids and Counting”) and continued to do so, despite his confession of infidelity.
In 2016, when he admitted himself to a rehabilitation facility, his parents referred to it as “an important initial move towards recovery and restoration.
As an overjoyed parent, I’ve been blessed with a beautiful family that continues to grow. My precious little ones include Mackynzie, born on October 8, 2009; Michael, who arrived on June 15, 2011; and Marcus, born on June 2, 2013. The day the scandal unfolded, we welcomed Meredith into our world on July 16, 2015 – the same day TLC decided to end our journey together on “19 Kids.” Our fifth child, Mason Garett, made his appearance on September 12, 2017. Then came Maryella Hope on November 27, 2019, and most recently, Madyson Lily joined us on October 23, 2021, making her our seventh bundle of joy.
In an indictment made public in April 2021, Joshua faced charges for two separate incidents: receiving and possessing child pornography. He maintained his innocence on both accusations. In the year 2022, Joshua was convicted of both offenses (although the possession charge was later dismissed by the judge), leading to a prison sentence of 12 and a half years.
Upon the arrival of our little bundle of joy, Josh, my partner and I were blessed with another pregnancy. Regrettably, we faced a heart-wrenching miscarriage during those early days. As we grappled with our grief and sought divine guidance, an unexpected miracle presented itself – twins on the horizon.
She shared that it felt like a special gift twice over, “God was providing us with additional strength,” she said to Love to Know. “We’re continually growing. It’s quite extraordinary because I nurse my infants, yet my children are closely spaced. It’s just another remarkable event the Lord has chosen for our circumstances.
John David Duggar and his twin sister Jana Duggar were born on Jan. 12, 1990.
Ever since I had been following their story from afar for quite some time, even before they crossed paths at that church gathering in Oklahoma, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of anticipation. And finally, the day arrived when John David and Abbie-Grace Burnett said “I do” on November 3, 2018. It was a dream come true for this devoted fan like me!
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently expanded my family with the arrival of two precious additions. On January 7, 2020, I welcomed my daughter, Grace Annette, into the world. Fast forward to September 2022, and my son, Charlie Duggar, joined us. It’s a joy beyond words!
Turning 30 in January 2020, Jan wrote a heartfelt message: “From when John and I were young, people often asked if we had that ‘twin connection.’ You know, the sensation of feeling what the other is feeling or knowing what they’re thinking…Previously, John, I’d always deny it—but the moment little Gracie was born, I experienced every ounce of joy you did. So, perhaps there really is something to it!
Jana went on, expressing, “It’s heartwarming to see you and Abbie in your parental roles! You two are truly natural at it! The same traits that have made you such a fantastic brother will undoubtedly make you an exceptional father.
Jana observed as 11 out of her 18 siblings tied the knot before she met Stephen Wissmann, who is connected to her through his sister Hannah Wissmann, who is married to Jeremiah, one of Jana’s own brothers. Although she confessed moments of exasperation, she believed it was all part of a divine plan orchestrated by God.
In August 2024, just before her wedding, Jana shared with People magazine that she sometimes found it challenging to grasp the overall plan, but she trusts that God knows what’s best for everyone in the long run. For her personally, marriage came later. She emphasized that every life story unfolds uniquely; if all our stories were identical, life would be monotonous and uninteresting.
Born on May 17, 1991, Jill Duggar Dillard found her own love story unfolding much like that of her parents’. On Christmas 2011, she crossed paths with Derick, who lived approximately 45 minutes away, when he dropped by the Duggar family home while caroling with his church group.
Jim Bob acted as a go-between, and Jill and Derick found themselves drawn to each other through emails and video calls. In November of the same year, they decided to meet in person when Jill visited Derick in Nepal. Their bond deepened further, and by February 2014, Derick proposed to Jill with her father’s approval. The wedding took place on June 21, 2014, and the couple now have three sons: Israel (born April 6, 2015), Samuel (born July 8, 2017), and Frederick (born July 7, 2022).
In April 2024, Jill revealed that she had experienced a miscarriage during the pregnancy of their first daughter with Derick.
In the Amazon Prime Video documentary titled “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets,” which aired in June 2023, Jill and Derick pondered the contentious issues and religious views related to her family.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifth child, Jessa Duggar, was born Nov. 4, 1992.
Jessa encountered Ben at church, and their traditional courtship commenced in 2013 – an antiquated style of romance that took many viewers by surprise. Prior to their engagement, they seldom discussed their romantic relationships. To clarify, Jim Bob described courting as a process where both families spend time together and the couple establishes shared goals to determine if they are compatible for marriage. Unlike dating, a couple usually spends private time together which could lead to physical intimacy.
In August 2014, Ben asked for Jessa’s hand in marriage, and they got engaged. They shared their first moment of being married by holding hands for the first time. Their wedding took place on November 1, 2014. While pregnant with their first child, Jessa and her sister Jill were the main focus of the show “19 Kids and Counting,” which was later canceled due to a special about sexual abuse that also included Jill and Jessa. This special aimed to educate viewers further on the subject. That winter, Jessa and Jill became the stars of their own show, “Jill and Jessa: Counting On.” The show eventually grew to include other Duggar siblings, becoming known as “Counting On.
Between November 5, 2015 and July 2021, Jessa and Ben expanded their family with four new members: Spurgeon, Henry, Ivy Jane, and Fern. However, in the holiday season of 2022, Jessa experienced a miscarriage. But by December 2023, she had given birth to another son named George.
On May 7, 2025, Jessa announced baby No. 6 is on the way.
The sixth Duggar child, Jinger Vuolo, was born Dec. 21, 1993.
Jinger and Jeremy first met while working on ministry tasks in Laredo, Texas, and began dating in 2016. They tied the knot on November 5th, 2016, which happened to be the birthday of Spurgeon, Jinger’s nephew. Given that they were part of a family of 19, it wasn’t easy to avoid overlapping significant events, and soon enough, people started speculating about a potential pregnancy.
In a June 2017 episode of “Counting On”, Jinger expressed that it’s likely they will continue living in Laredo and carrying out their ministry, with a focus on serving the Lord in various ways.
On July 19, 2018, their daughter, Felicity, entered the world. Earlier in that year, they announced that Jinger was expecting once more—unfortunately, she had experienced a miscarriage the previous autumn. In November 2020, Evangeline Jo joined their family.
Son Finnegan Charles was born March 29, 2025.
On January 20, 1995, Joseph Duggar was born. Leveraging the romantic ambiance, Joseph popped the question to Kendra, whom he had met through church, during his sister Joy-Anna’s wedding in May 2017, following only a short time of dating.
Joseph confessed to People magazine that he was certainly anxious leading up to the proposal, yet he wasn’t scared she would decline because she had previously said, “‘I’m just waiting on you!'” Joseph shared. Kendra added, “I am overjoyed and utterly stunned. There are countless things I wish to express, but all I can say is shocked.
Since then, they have announced the births of their son Garrett (born in June 2018), their daughter Addison (born in November 2019), and their daughter Brooklyn (born in February 2021).
Eighth in line, Josiah Duggar was born on Aug. 28, 1996.
A few months after their relationship became public knowledge, they made an announcement of their engagement in March 2018. He mentioned in a statement that the location where he proposed to Lauren was the same spot where her parents got engaged. This place holds a lot of family history and tradition, making it particularly meaningful for Lauren.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share the heartwarming news: Michelle, their future mother-in-law, expressed her affection in a family blog post, saying, “We adore Lauren, she’s truly a treasure.” Jessa and Ben echoed their congratulations, and even presented a delightful treat in the form of chocolate shaped like x’s and o’s. With a gleam in her eye, she hinted, “I suspect you two might be saving your first kiss for the wedding day, but if you drop by, we’ll have a special surprise waiting here…” She playfully displayed the sweet token of comfort.
Their past relationship with Marjorie Jackson ended amicably during the summer of 2015. As Josiah shared with People in March 2016, they had enjoyed their time together and were attempting to follow God’s guidance throughout their courtship. However, Marjorie felt that it wasn’t the appropriate moment for them, leading them to take a brief break from their relationship.
On June 30, 2018, they got married, and they told People that their wedding day was “simply perfect.” Their first child, Bella Milagro, was born on November 8, 2019, a name meaning “miracle baby,” as the couple had previously experienced a miscarriage in October 2018. They then welcomed daughter Daisy in 2022 and son Ezra in May 2023.
Ninth sibling Joy-Anna Duggar was born Oct. 28, 1997.
She had been friends with Austin Forsyth for fifteen years before he began pursuing her romance. After this, their relationship moved swiftly. He popped the question in February 2017, and they tied the knot on May 26, 2017, at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas – the same venue where Joseph proposed to Kendra.
On February 23, 2018, Joy-Anna and Austin became parents to their firstborn boy named Gideon Martin Forsyth. Exactly two years later, on August 21, 2020, they had a daughter, Evelyn Mae Forsyth. And most recently, on May 17, 2023, they welcomed their third child, Gunner James Forsyth, into their family.
Joy-Anna and Austin have grown their family over the years with three beautiful additions. Their son Gideon Martin Forsyth was born on February 23, 2018; daughter Evelyn Mae Forsyth arrived on August 21, 2020; and their third child, Gunner James Forsyth, joined them on May 17, 2023.
Or:
Joy-Anna and Austin have been blessed with three children since they tied the knot. Their firstborn son, Gideon Martin Forsyth, was born on February 23, 2018; their daughter, Evelyn Mae Forsyth, followed suit on August 21, 2020; and finally, Gunner James Forsyth made his appearance on May 17, 2023.
On the 30th of December, 1998, Jim Bob and Michelle welcomed their second pair of twins, Jed and Jeremiah Duggar, into their family.
In the spring of 2021, Jed tied the knot with Katey Nakatsu, following a year of romance. They now proudly call themselves parents to Truett, their son who was born in May 2022, and Nora Kate, their daughter who joined the family in June 2023.
In July 2024, Jed and Katey shared the exciting news of their upcoming twins, and on January 8, 2025, their beautiful daughters Elsie Kate and Emma Kate were born.
Jeremiah, who is a qualified flight instructor, is married to Hannah Wissmann (the sister of Stephen, Jana’s husband), and the couple has two daughters: Brynley, born in December 2022, and Brielle, born in February 2024.
They announced the arrival of their third daughter, Emery ‘Emy’ Jane Duggar, on May 18, 2025.
No. 12 Jason Duggar was born on April 21, 2000.
Back in January 2017, the Daily Mail announced that Jim Bob assisted Jase in purchasing a $33,000 property requiring repairs in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from the Duggar family’s main residence. Later on, he established his own construction company.
In May 2024, he made their relationship public on Instagram with Maddie Grace, and they got married the following October.
Charmed No. 13, James Duggar was born July 7, 2001.
He hasn’t made his romantic intentions known towards anyone special just yet, but he’s incredibly loving and attentive as an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
On his 19th birthday in 2019, Michelle wrote that James is like a beloved uncle to everyone around here, inspiring all the younger boys who aspire to be just like him. James possesses an incredible ability to tackle almost anything he can think of. As a child, we often found him tinkering with household appliances, always curious about how they function and eager to make improvements.
This year, James dedicated significant effort to earning his Commercial Driver’s License, and now he’s mastered operating all large trucks and heavy equipment with ease! We’re eagerly anticipating what lies ahead for him, guided by divine plans.
No. 14 Justin Duggar arrived on Nov. 15, 2002.
In September 2020, he announced his relationship with Claire Spivey to the public. They became engaged in November of the same year and tied the knot on February 26, 2021.
In the company of his elder sister Jill, Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifteenth child, Jackson Duggar, made his entrance into the world on the 23rd of May, 2004.
When Jackson turned sixteen on his birthday, his mother Michelle complimented his great sense of humor and mentioned that she was aware of his eagerness to obtain a driver’s license.
Johannah Duggar, who made her grand entrance on October 11, 2005, is the focus of the original family reality show titled “16 Kids and Growing Up Under One Roof“.
On her 15th birthday in 2020, Michelle posted: “This girl is full of life and enjoys meeting new people, and she can’t get enough of it! Her younger siblings simply idolize her and believe she’s the bee’s knees. I couldn’t be more thankful to God for giving me the joy of being her mother!
Jennifer Duggar arrived on Aug. 2, 2007, then the baby of the family.
Their TLC show that premiered Sept. 29, 2008, was christened 17 Kids and Counting.
Now, OMG, she’s a teenager.
Michelle wrote when her niece turned 13, “Jennifer is reliable, devoted… and lively!” This captures that Jennifer is dependable in fulfilling responsibilities, loyal towards family members and loved by the younger ones, and enjoys having fun. She’s often seen carrying a niece or nephew, as they don’t want her to let go. Furthermore, Jennifer holds a deep affection for animals and diligently cares for them daily. Recently, she even took part in nurturing a brood of 7 baby bunnies!
Here on the right, the penultimate Duggar child was born Dec. 18, 2008.
2019 saw Jordyn-Grace described by her mother as an extroverted girl who effortlessly befriends everyone she meets, and whose laughter often brings joy to our days.
Josie Duggar, seen cradling her niece Meredith here, was born on December 10, 2009. However, she arrived three months early and weighed just a little over a pound (1 pound, 6 ounces), spending a total of six months in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Michelle penned on her child’s 11th birthday in 2020: “Josie is like a whirlwind, non-stop energy!” From dawn till dusk, she seldom rests.
