North West React to Criticism Over Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Looks

Kim Kardashian almost didn’t go to the 2025 Met Gala because her black leather dress from Chrome Hearts didn’t fit right. But her 12-year-old child quickly and honestly told her why she should go.

In a clip from the November 27th episode of The Kardashians, she told Kim, “You need to go! What’s the big deal? People criticize your outfits every year anyway.”

North gave Kim flowers to cheer her up and simply said, “You have to leave—that’s all there is to it.”

Kim ultimately did walk up the famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, wearing a very tight-fitting dress. Her team actually had to cut the dress in half right before the event to ensure it fit properly. While there, she told Vogue that her daughter, North, is a tough fashion critic, but has been learning to give feedback in a more constructive way.

Kim, who shares 9-year-old Saint, 7-year-old Chicago, and 6-year-old Psalm with her ex, Kanye West, also said she’s in a good headspace. She explained that she believes in letting people express themselves without judgment, saying, ‘Even if something isn’t my taste, I won’t criticize it—everyone should be free to enjoy what they like.’

It took North some time to warm up to the fashion. She had previously criticized Kim’s Balenciaga outfit at the 2021 Met Gala, comparing it to a “plastic bag,” and dismissed her mom’s Schiaparelli dress from two years later as something that looked like it came from a “dollar store.”

During a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, North commented on her mom’s dress, saying it looked like something a Hawaiian girl would wear, though it had ripped. She also thought the pearls and crystals on the gown didn’t look real.

She continued, “It’s looking beachy. The diamonds ruin it.”

However, Kim knows to take North’s notes with a grain of salt.
