There won’t be a new episode of Ghosts season 5 tonight, November 27, 2025, due to CBS’s scheduling. The show, starring Sam and Jay, is a popular sitcom and has already been renewed through the 2025-2026 TV season. This allows the creators, Joe Wiseman and Joe Port, to build storylines that unfold over time. So far this season, Ghosts has explored the individual stories of the spirits while also developing the lives of Sam and Jay.
Early in the year, the show Ghosts wrote out one of its characters when Carol’s storyline ended. Since then, the show has focused more on Flower, Trevor, and Pete. The first Thanksgiving episode even brought back Shane to look after the ghosts while Sam attended her first book signing in Chicago. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a bit longer for the next installment.
Ghosts Season 5 Is Currently On Thanksgiving Break
Following a busy stretch of episodes including its Thanksgiving special, Ghosts won’t have a new episode tonight, November 27th. CBS is pausing most of its shows, likely due to the Thanksgiving holiday and is instead airing special programming in its usual time slots. There’s no official explanation, but the holiday is the likely reason for the break.
For example, CBS is broadcasting a Duke versus Arkansas college basketball game on Thursday night. The game begins at 8 PM Eastern Time and will likely continue until 10 PM. As a result, the regularly scheduled shows Ghosts (from 8:30 to 9 PM), Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, and Matlock will not air as planned.
When Ghosts Season 5 Will Return & What To Expect
The break in Ghosts season 5 isn’t following CBS’s typical yearly pattern, so it won’t last very long. That means Sam, Jay, and the ghosts of Woodstone Mansion will be back on December 4, 2026. New episodes will air regularly until another break in the winter, which will be more than a week but less than a full summer hiatus.
The fifth season of “Ghosts” will center around Bela and Isaac and the challenges they’re facing. In the episode “The Proposal,” Jay will help Eric plan a proposal for his sister, who’s been staying at the Woodstone Mansion while managing Mahesh. Of course, the ghosts will inevitably interfere with the plan. At the same time, Isaac is trying to connect with the other ghosts in the basement and earn their trust.
