Netflix is Losing One of The Most Beloved Sitcoms Sooner Than You Might Think

Netflix has become a go-to place for comedy, offering both brand new shows and beloved classics. However, the platform often loses popular series, and it looks like one of its biggest sitcoms, How I Met Your Mother, is about to leave. Fans in North America only have a few days left to watch the story of Ted, Barney, Lilly, Marshall, and Robin on Netflix before the CBS show is no longer available.

Fans of How I Met Your Mother should know that all nine seasons will be removed from Netflix on December 3rd. Don’t worry, though – the show isn’t disappearing completely! You can still stream it on Hulu, which currently has all eight seasons and doesn’t plan to remove it. Hopefully, How I Met Your Mother will become available on other streaming platforms in the future.

Meeting Your Mother And Father

Although How I Met Your Mother didn’t get a direct sequel continuing Ted and his friends’ story, it did inspire a spin-off called How I Met Your Father. This new show, which premiered in 2022, followed Sophie as she recounted the story of how she met her partner. However, How I Met Your Father only lasted for two seasons, unlike the original series. Despite its shorter run, the spin-off did feature some familiar faces from How I Met Your Mother.

Even years after it ended, the finale of How I Met Your Mother remains a major disappointment for many fans. Most agree the ending didn’t live up to expectations, and many feel the entire final season failed to maintain the quality of the show’s earlier seasons.

Josh Radnor, the actor who played Ted Mosby, once explained why the series finale received so much negative feedback. He believes fans reacted with anger because it was a more comfortable emotion than sadness. Many were upset that their favorite show was ending and didn’t conclude as they’d hoped. According to Radnor, the show’s creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, intended for viewers to process feelings of sadness or loss, but not everyone was willing to do so.
