PS5 Just Received a New Upgrade That Fixes Its Biggest Flaw

Sony has released an update for the standard PlayStation 5, bringing over features that were previously only available on the PS5 Pro. When the PS5 Pro launched last year, it included improvements like a more powerful graphics processor, a larger 2TB hard drive, and some design changes. Now, after about a year, Sony is extending those same design improvements to the original PS5 model.

A recent update to the PlayStation 5 Slim, discovered by @Modyfikator89, has removed liquid metal from the console’s cooling system. Early PS5 models released in 2020 sometimes experienced leaks of this coolant inside the hardware, though it wasn’t a widespread issue. Sony fixed this problem in the PS5 Pro, and now the standard PS5 Slim (model CFI-2116) has also been updated to eliminate the liquid metal cooling, resolving the potential for leaks.

Big news for PS5 fans! Sony has subtly upgraded the cooling system in all new PlayStation 5 Slim consoles (model CFI-2116), including both the standard and Digital Editions. This isn’t simply a repair, but a significant hardware improvement.

This design update for the PS5 is only appearing on newly released consoles now available in stores. If you already bought an older model, it has the original cooling system. However, there’s no need to be concerned if you have an older PS5, as problems with the original cooling system are extremely rare.

It’s encouraging to see Sony consistently working to enhance the PS5. They’re always finding ways to improve the console, whether through software updates that add new features, or by making physical changes to the design – all with the goal of creating the best possible gaming experience.
