Jada Pinkett Smith Sued for Alleged Threats in $3 Million Lawsuit

Jada Pinkett Smith is facing a legal battle.

Jada Pinkett Smith is being sued for $3 million by Bilaal Salaam, a former associate of her husband, Will Smith. Salaam claims she led a campaign to damage his reputation after a disagreement at Will’s birthday party in September 2021.

According to a lawsuit filed on November 7th, Jada Pinkett Smith, along with about seven people accompanying her, confronted the plaintiff and became verbally aggressive. The lawsuit claims she threatened him, saying he would “end up missing or catch a bullet” if he continued to share her private information. She also allegedly demanded he sign a non-disclosure agreement, threatening consequences if he didn’t.

According to the lawsuit, a person connected to Jada then followed Bilaal, who was a friend of Will Smith as described in his 2021 memoir, Will, and continued to threaten him verbally while approaching his car.

Just under a year after the 2022 Oscars, where Will Smith famously slapped Chris Rock on stage, Bilaal claims he was asked to assist with managing the public relations fallout. He refused, stating in legal documents that he didn’t want to participate in any attempt to cover up the incident or mislead the public.

According to Bilaal, after he declined to do something for them, Will and Jada Smith, or people connected to them, began to threaten him. He says this worsened when they found out he was writing a book revealing details about his experiences working for the family.

According to the documents, Bilaal started doing interviews with the media to defend himself and create a record of what happened. He claims that Jada then deliberately tried to damage his reputation by giving interviews on national television.

Bilaal is suing Jada, claiming she deliberately caused him emotional distress on three occasions. He also accuses her of behaving in an extremely shocking way, specifically alleging she tried to scare, bribe, and silence him.

Bilaal is requesting $3 million in specific damages, as well as additional general and punitive damages. He also wants Jada to publicly retract what he claims were false and damaging statements, specifically accusations that he attempted to extort money from her.
