Yuji Horii is teasing Chrono Trigger fans again with hints about a possible re-release.
Yuji Horii, the creator of Dragon Quest and a supervisor on the original Chrono Trigger, recently made some surprising statements during a Japanese broadcast, according to IGN.
When questioned about the ongoing rumors of remasters and remakes celebrating the RPG’s 30th anniversary, Horii playfully dodged the question, responding with “I can’t say,” “don’t ask me that,” and “I’d get in trouble!”
Honestly, this little bit of news has gotten me so hyped again! Unless Horii himself steps up and says a remake is definitely not going to happen, I think a lot of us are going to keep dreaming about it. It’s just how it is, you know?
The famous developer hinted at a potential Chrono Trigger project back in May, though his comments were initially misunderstood. He mentioned wanting to work on something related to the game and was beginning to explore possible ideas.
It seems likely that Horii is joking around. He may be alluding to the controversy caused by his past statements and is probably trying to avoid further issues.
These rumors will likely continue until Square Enix officially confirms something. We’ve seen this happen before, like with the long-running discussions about a remake of Final Fantasy 9.
