As a huge movie and TV fan, I wasn’t at all shocked to hear that Stranger Things just smashed another Netflix record with the first part of its final season. Honestly, given how popular the show is, it was pretty much expected!
Okay, so I finally watched the first four episodes of the new season, and wow! Apparently, I wasn’t alone – Netflix says a massive 59.6 million people tuned in within the first five days. That’s incredible! Everyone was clearly as excited as I was to go back to Hawkins.
In contrast, Season 4 launched with 287 million hours viewed – Netflix’s key measurement at the time. Variety reported this equaled roughly 22 million viewers, a 171% jump from the previous season. However, it’s worth noting that Season 4’s numbers were from just the first three days, while Season 5 had five, so a direct comparison isn’t entirely straightforward.
Let me tell you, this premiere week was incredible – the strongest start for any English-language series I’ve ever seen. In fact, it only fell behind the absolute juggernauts, seasons two and three of Squid Game. That show, of course, became a global obsession, so it’s high praise indeed!
Following a surprising turn of events in episode 4 that gave Noah Schnapp’s character, Will Byers, a pivotal scene, fans are eagerly anticipating the second part of the season and the finale, which concludes a story nearly ten years in the making.
Good news is starting to come out! Tickets are now available in the US for the final Stranger Things episodes shown in cinemas, and we now know how long the last episode is.

As a fan, I’m so excited that the runtime is a full 2 hours and 5 minutes! It sounds like they’re really taking their time to tie up all the loose ends and give everything a proper conclusion. I’m really looking forward to it!
As a huge fan, what I’m really excited about with the final season is that the Duffer Brothers have said they’re determined to give every character a satisfying conclusion. They’ve promised endings that will feel natural and like the only possible outcome for each of them, and that’s a really comforting thought as we head into the finale.
We’re aiming to make the finale feel consistent with the series and ensure each character’s ending feels natural and unavoidable. That’s our main goal.
Jamie Campbell Bower, the actor who plays Vecna/Henry Creel, hinted at what happens after his character’s big comeback in the fifth season.
He shared his excitement as a fan, saying he was thrilled with how the show concluded. He described the ending as beautiful and a perfect way to wrap up a beloved series.
