Marathon’s Stolen Art Debacle Has Finally Been Resolved

Earlier this year, Bungie faced criticism after it was discovered that some artwork in their new game, Marathon, had been copied from other sources. However, they’ve now fixed the problem.

We received this information from the artist who owns the artwork, Antireal, who posted an update on social media.

It appears the artist has reached a deal with Sony and Bungie. While the specifics haven’t been released, it’s likely this involves a financial settlement.

This year in May, artist Antireal discovered her artwork was used throughout the early test version of the shooting game without her permission or payment. She shared this information publicly, stating she received no credit or compensation for its inclusion.

This prompted Bungie to investigate the problem internally and address it publicly during a live broadcast.

Ideally, this situation wouldn’t have occurred, but thankfully everyone is now happy with how things turned out.

Marathon is holding another private playtest this month as development of the sci-fi shooter continues. The game is currently on track to launch in early 2026.
