Meghan Markle only ever cooks with love—especially for husband Prince Harry.
Prince Harry unexpectedly joined Meghan Markle’s holiday special, arriving just as she and chef Tom Colicchio were finishing up cooking. He appeared at just the right moment to get a taste of what they’d made.
He walked into the kitchen and said, “I smell gumbo!” He quickly kissed Meghan and then greeted Tom. “Gumbo is one of my favorite dishes, especially when her mom makes it—but I like it before the fish is added.”
Meghan confirmed that her mom, Doria Ragland, always sets aside a small portion of food. Before Harry tasted Tom and Meghan’s version of a dish, she playfully warned him, “It’s andouille sausage—Mom makes turkey sausage for you, so this one is spicier! Here, take a towel, because you’re going to sweat.”
When Harry tasted the dish, he said it felt like a tingling sensation on the top of his head. He admitted it was delicious, though he wasn’t sure it quite measured up to his mother’s cooking, but it was very close.
Meghan initially reacted with mock indignation, but then admitted, “My mom will really like you. That was a thoughtful thing to say to her.”
Meghan is thrilled to have Harry as a partner in building their careers and raising their two children, 6-year-old Archie Harrison and 4-year-old Lilibet “Lili” Diana. She describes Harry as someone who is full of joy, wonder, and a playful spirit.

Meghan, 44, shared with Harper’s Bazaar that she felt a strong connection with something her husband encouraged within her. She explained that this has influenced all aspects of their life, and she wants to maintain a playful, fun, and creative approach even in their professional endeavors.
Harry, age 41, brings the same vibrant energy to their relationship, and Meghan says he loves her completely and wholeheartedly. She also appreciates that, having grown up with a different experience of the media than she did, he offers a unique point of view.
She said, “He loves me more than anyone else, so I know I can always count on him to support me.”

Harry isn’t the only one Meghan appreciates in their family of four. The founder of As Ever also shared that seeing her children grow has helped her learn a lot about her own journey and growth in the world of lifestyle and business.
Meghan, a mother of young children, shared that watching her kids tackle new challenges and overcome obstacles reminds her to be kind to herself as an entrepreneur. She believes she deserves the same understanding and patience she offers her children.
She added, “There’s no such thing as perfect.”

Meghan Markle shared in season two that she made husband Prince Harry and his friends custom baseball hats bearing “PH40″—his initials and age—in honor of his 40th birthday in September 2024.
I was so excited to hear Meghan was heading to Malibu with her friend Heather Dorak! It got me thinking about how much she’s grown up since her twenties – she actually talked about the changes she’s experienced, and it’s amazing to see how far she’s come.
We initially bonded over a shared interest in health and fitness,” she explained. “We used to run together, and now we’re both raising two children. Our husbands are also close friends, which is wonderful to see – it’s been so heartwarming to watch our friendship grow over the years.
The former Suits star went on to share how her thoughts about aging have evolved as well.
I truly believe your 20s are for figuring things out, and your 30s are when it starts to click. But honestly, being in my 40s is the best part! It’s like everything you went through beforehand was building up to this incredible sense of self. It’s been amazing to see us women grow, become more confident, and truly embrace who we are, both inside and out.
Meghan observed that she and her friends now enjoy simple pleasures like cookies and wine, saying, ‘We’ve moved into a new phase of life.’

Meghan said she hadn’t seen a former coworker from Deal or No Deal in nearly 20 years, but they got back in touch a couple of years ago.
When they finally got together in season two, the pair reminisced about old times on set.
“I remember all having to stand in line,” Meghan recalled, “to get our lashes put on in a row.”
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, revealed she’s been following Chrissy Teigen’s work, even though they haven’t seen each other recently.
You know, after I moved on from that show, I started seeing your face everywhere! It was maybe a year later, and I was honestly stunned – there you were on the cover of Sports Illustrated! I remember thinking, ‘Wow, she’s really made it,’ and I was so happy for you. You’ve always been such a sweet person, and it was amazing to see your success.

When Meghan mispronounced ‘Hawthorn’ as ‘Honsworth,’ Chrissy playfully suggested it was a hint about the name of her rumored third child.
As the Cravings cookbook author noted, “I was like, ‘You have a kid named Honsworth?'”
Meghan playfully responded, “You’ve never heard of my child? And honestly, if I could have kept a secret that big, that would be amazing.”

Harry made a quick appearance in season two with Meghan and Clare Smyth, the chef who catered their 2018 wedding. Clare had flown to California for the episode, and the three of them took a picture together with the caption, “Surprise Visit!”

Meghan, mother to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, lovingly described her son Archie as a remarkably sweet and adorable child.
“I always wanted to be a mom,” Meghan added. “I love it. It’s better than I even expected.”

Meghan had to face the music after her move from London to California.
She confessed to Tan France that she really misses listening to the U.K.’s Magic radio station, joking that she’d happily be the ‘grandma’ who still loves it.
These days, she noted her playlists can range from soul to country music.
She said her favorite radio station in the car is called ‘Mom Jeans.’ It plays older songs that are perfect for singing along to – the kind you’d forgotten about.

Cooking might be one of Meghan’s love languages, but her dishes don’t always turn out egg-celent.
She shared that she made roast chicken the night her husband proposed, served it at their wedding, and still cooks it weekly. She also recalled struggling to convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit when she first made it for him.
She admitted she’d cooked a really awful chicken that night. But her point was, even if you mess up a meal, someone will still appreciate the effort you put in.

During Clare’s episode, she jokingly shared that Harry teases her for saying “herbs” without the ‘h’ – she pronounces it the way Americans do, without sounding the ‘h’.

The actress explained that she consulted with an Ayurvedic doctor – a traditional Indian medicine practitioner – during her pregnancy. However, she told guest Samin Nosrat she had to eat a lot of dates, which she found challenging. She emphasized, “So many.”

As a longtime fan, I always knew Meghan had a knack for good food, but I was so fascinated to learn where her jam-making hobby really took off! She shared that it wasn’t just a passing interest – it actually started when she and Harry settled into their place in Montecito, California. It’s lovely to know she found such a fulfilling pastime after they moved!
While picking berries, Meghan mentioned on the second episode of With Love, Meghan that the vines were already growing there when she and Harry first moved in, and they actually sparked her interest in making jam and preserves.
As for Meghan’s favorite preserve?
The Duchess of Sussex shared that making apple butter reminds her of her grandmother, making it a cherished tradition. She loves that her children, Archie and Lilibet, now get to experience it too. She imagines they’ll associate the sweet smell of slow-cooked fruit with coming home and knowing she’s making preserves – a comforting sign of home and family.
In fact, Meghan said Lili has even tried her hand at preserve-making.
While offering strawberry preserve in the fifth episode, she explained that she and her daughter, Lili, made it together. Lili helped pick all the berries and then insisted on taking over, wanting to stir and mash them herself. Her mother guided her, keeping her away from the hot parts while Lili poured the preserve in. Seeing Lili’s pride in her work was a really good feeling.

However, it appears Harry, who made a cameo on season one, has some culinary skills too.
Meghan revealed in the fifth episode that her husband, affectionately known as H, is an excellent cook, especially when it comes to breakfast.
The duchess also offered some insight into how the Duke of Sussex likes to season his food.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this about Prince Harry! Meghan was talking, and she said her husband – seriously, the Prince Harry – salts everything before he even tastes it! Everything! It’s so him, honestly. She said she’s started making things with less salt now, just to counteract it. I mean, can you imagine? It’s the cutest, most Harry thing ever! I just… I love it so much!

Meghan explained that she likes to combine high-end designer items with more affordable pieces – a style she calls ‘high-low’.
The actress, known for her role in Suits, described what she wore while hosting Mindy Kaling for a tea party during the first season of her show. She revealed she paired Zara pants with a Loro Piana top and a Jenni Kayne sweater.

The series not only highlights Meghan’s passion for hosting, cooking, gardening, and decorating, but also reveals some of her other hobbies and interests.
For instance, in one episode, she hosted a game night for her friends.
We’ve all been learning mahjong together recently,” she explained. “Mahjong originated in China in the 1800s, and we play the American version. I’ve really grown to love it – the game is a lot of fun, but even better is learning something new with friends. It’s amazing how mahjong has become a part of our growing friendships.”
During a recent conversation, Vicky Tsai, founder of Tatcha, mentioned that Meghan enjoys playing pickleball. Meghan also shared some of her preferred music genres.
In episode five, Meghan shared that she enjoys listening to ’70s soft rock, yacht rock, soul music, and music you might hear at a French dinner party.
And when it come to food, she said she has a “very, very high tolerance” for spice.
Growing up, we didn’t have much money, but my mom made sure we traveled whenever possible. She was a travel agent and always encouraged us to experience new cultures and foods. She was a fantastic cook, especially when it came to Soul food – it’s full of rich, bold flavors and a little bit of spice. I really miss that taste and always look for that level of heat in my food. Now, I’m introducing my own family to those same flavors, and they’re enjoying it just as much as I do.

In the second episode of her first season, Meghan shared that she ate a lot of fast food and often had TV dinners when she was growing up.
Looking back, it really hits me how much things have changed! Growing up, those microwavable kids’ meals with the little compartments were just…normal. That was my childhood! I remember evenings spent watching Jeopardy! and, honestly, eating a lot of fast food. It feels like a different world now, but that was just how things were for me back then.
Her favorites at the time?
Meghan shared that she used to frequently eat at Pollo Loco and Taco Bell, especially enjoying Taco Bell’s Mexican pizza with extra hot sauce. She also mentioned that her mom was a big fan of Jack in the Box tacos, so they often went there too.

Meghan didn’t just share memories of her early years; she also talked about her experiences as a Girl Scout.
She shared that she was in Girl Scouts for many years, starting as a Daisy when she was five or six. She remembers selling lots of cookies, and her mom was the leader of Troop 949.

Even after stepping down as senior working royals in 2020, Harry and Meghan retained their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles.
And in With Love, Meghan, she explained why the Sussex name is so meaningful to her.
In episode two, Meghan told Mindy that it always makes her laugh when people still say ‘Meghan Markle.’ She explained that after having children, she now identifies as ‘Sussex’ and feels strongly about sharing a family name with them. She admitted she didn’t realize how important it would be to her, but it means a lot to be able to say, ‘This is our family name – our little family name.’

Speaking of Archie and Lili, Meghan offered a few insights into their world in the series.
The mom of two says her children also enjoy gardening, and they even have their own tools – they’re really dedicated to it! She also mentioned her daughter’s fondness for the color pink and a special song she sings while cleaning up.
Meghan shared in episode five that Lili has a little song about tidying up immediately. The song simply repeats ‘Clean as you go. Clean, clean, clean, clean, clean as you go.’
Meghan shared stories about simple moments with her children, like making sun tea with Archie and a fishing trip where he caught a trout. She also spoke about how much she enjoys cooking with them.
She shared in episode five that creating these experiences and memories with her children is very important to her. She hopes they’ll remember things like, ‘Mom used to make this,’ fondly.

Long before she was an actress or a duchess, Meghan had her first job at an ice cream shop.
She recalled being 13 years old when she got her first job at Humphrey Yogart, as she shared on episode five of the podcast With Love, Meghan.
Later on, Meghan helped make doughnuts.
She mentioned in the third episode that doughnuts always bring back childhood memories for her. She used to work at a small doughnut shop called Lil Orbits Donuts, where they made incredibly small, mini doughnuts to sell at craft fairs, and she helped out with the work.
And when she was in college, Meghan worked at a bar in Chicago.
In episode seven, a Northwestern University graduate shared how they initially planned to move to Chicago and take a simple job, like a coat-check attendant. But they were surprised when they were offered a higher-paying position as a cocktail waitress instead.
After a customer’s complicated martini order left her feeling lost, Meghan said her boss told her to return to her previous job at the coat check.
Meghan also shared that before becoming famous, she had several interesting jobs, including teaching gift-wrapping and book-making, and working as a hostess at Mirabelle Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard.

In the fourth episode, Meghan hosts a gathering with Nacho Figueras’ wife, Delfina Blaquier, and shares her thoughts on her experiences living abroad.
The Duchess shared that she really loved her time in Argentina, explaining it felt similar to California with its mountains and vibrant outdoor lifestyle. Even though she was only there for a few months as an intern at the U.S. embassy, she said she had a wonderful experience.

Meghan starred as Rachel Zane on the TV show Suits from 2011 to 2018, and she still remembers vividly when she learned she’d been cast and would be relocating to Toronto for the part.
She explained that when the show was picked up, filming would be in Toronto. “So, one season in Toronto—great. Then two seasons!” she said. “I started to wonder if my life would be moving there permanently. Luckily, I love Canada, and I always made an effort to have the cast and people I met, even those I met at the dog park with my dog, come visit.”
In fact, her costar Abigail Spencer appears in one of the With Love, Meghan episodes.

In January 2025, Meghan announced her beloved dog, Guy, passed away.
The cute beagle appeared in multiple episodes of the Netflix show, and Meghan had previously shared how much she loved him.
She confessed in episode four that she’d do anything for Guy, and he was well aware of it. She explained that he could always get what he wanted because he adapted to whatever she needed – sometimes sweet, sometimes playful, sometimes flirtatious, but always someone she indulged.
And he was always by her side.
She explained that Guy is always by her side, like a constant companion. They’ve been together for a very long time – ever since she lived in Toronto. He was originally found in the woods in Kentucky and has since traveled with her to the U.K., back to Canada, and then to California. She feels he has a lot of life experiences to share.
Okay, so after the last episode of season one aired, Meghan said something that completely wrecked me. She said the whole season was, like, ‘in loving memory of Guy.’ I mean, Guy! It just… it hit me so hard. It’s clear how much he meant to everyone involved, and knowing the season is dedicated to him makes it even more special. I’m obsessed with this show, and now I’m obsessed with honoring his memory too. It’s just… beautiful and heartbreaking all at once.
