Tomas Sala, the developer behind the aerial combat game *The Falconeer* and its city-building follow-up *Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles*, recently discussed improvements to the Xbox PC store with Jez Corden on the Xbox Two Podcast.
Sala previously worked with the ID@Xbox program, launching *The Falconeer* as a title for the Xbox Series X|S in 2020. During the conversation, he shared his thoughts on how Microsoft could enhance the store’s user experience. He feels the store needs a more modern and appealing design, and suggested features like easily following developers on platforms like Bluesky. Currently, the store often defaults to displaying game logos instead of large screenshots or trailers, which doesn’t give players a good initial impression of the game.
Sala also believes Xbox could improve its community tools, noting that even Steam could offer more in this area. He explained that players enjoy following the development process of games, seeing how they evolve from early stages to the final product. He’d like to see a system where players can connect with developers as creators, understanding they’re investing in a person, a world, or a larger universe, not just a single game.
Sala continued discussing improvements for the Xbox Store, highlighting the difficulty players have finding new games. He suggested the Xbox PC app could help by offering personalized recommendations and updates on what to play.
He also acknowledged the challenge of capturing attention in the age of short-form video content like TikTok and Instagram Shorts, and emphasized that Microsoft should fully utilize the benefits of its Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
According to Sala, “Game Pass encourages players to try a wider variety of games, and they’re more willing to experiment. They’re also quick to share their opinions – if they don’t like something, they’ll let you know, but at least they gave it a try.”
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that you can play both The Falconeer and Bulwark on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and the best part is they’re Xbox Play Anywhere titles! That means you can start on one device and pick up right where you left off on the other. Plus, they’re also available on Steam if you prefer that platform.
