Although Anime Expo has concluded, Bandai Namco is already preparing for their grand appearance at San Diego Comic Con in 2025. To mark the occasion, they’ve unveiled a special Gundam Booth and panel dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.” This celebration will take place at Bandai Hobby booth during SDCC 2025, showcasing various elements from the anime, including a striking statue of the famous Wing Gundam.
The Gundam Wing display, which includes exclusive merchandise like shirts, will be available on the convention floor for all four days starting July 24th, 2025, and running until July 27th, 2025. So, if you’re a Gundam Wing fan, make sure to save the date!
Additionally, Sunrise Studios, often referred to as Bandai Namco Filmworks, will conduct a Gundam Showcase panel next Thursday, July 24th. This special event, celebrating 30 Years of the iconic series Gundam Wing, will feature original English voice actors from the ’90s anime and provide unique gifts for attendees. The official Gundam YouTube channel has recently shared clean versions of the opening and closing themes for Gundam Wing, titled “JUST COMMUNICATION” and “It’s Just Love!”. Throughout the year, Bandai has been honoring Gundam Wing with a variety of collaborations across media, such as video games like Call of Duty and Overwatch. There’s also a current partnership between Gundam and KFC in China, offering fans the chance to buy special edition chicken buckets and merchandise inspired by Wing Gundam.

Mark Hildreth, Scott McNeil, and Brad Swaile are highly regarded voice actors who lent their talents to three of the primary five Gundam pilots in the series Wing. Hildreth brought a stoic demeanor to Heero, the lead character, mirroring the machine-like nature of his personality. Scott McNeil, who voiced Duo, a cocky pilot in Wing, is an Australian actor residing in Canada, renowned for his roles in Transformers, Beast Wars, ReBoot, and X-Men Evolution. Swaile, who gave voice to Quatre, the sensitive pilot in Wing, is a particularly busy voice actor within the Gundam franchise. He voiced Amuro Ray and Setsuna F. Seiei, the protagonists of Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundam 00, respectively.
Why Gundam Wing Is So Important to The Franchise?
One of the earliest shows from the Mobile Suit Gundam series to gain global distribution was Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, which aired on Toonami during the late 90s. This show, along with Dragon Ball Z, helped boost Toonami’s popularity among young boys and adolescents. Interestingly, Gundam Wing also resonated strongly with women due to its appealing designs of the teenage male protagonists. The success of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing paved the way for Bandai to localize other anime in the franchise, thereby establishing a foothold for Gundam in America. To this day, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing continues to be cherished by American fans, with the iconic Gundam Wing mecha being one of the most beloved mobile suits within the series.
