Landman Season 3 Fate Confirmed

The future of Landman season 3 is now clear, as Paramount+ has made a decision following the announcement that Taylor Sheridan will be leaving the studio. Currently, season 2 of Landman, created by Sheridan, is airing weekly on Paramount+ and has been very popular – its premiere was the most-watched season launch in the streaming service’s history.

Paramount has officially renewed Landman for a third season. This continues the pattern of Taylor Sheridan’s shows being very successful for Paramount+, and the studio appears committed to continuing them. The announcement comes shortly after news that Sheridan will be moving from Paramount to NBCUniversal in late 2028.

With the renewal of Landman, Paramount continues to expand its popular Taylor Sheridan universe. This joins previously announced future seasons of Tulsa King (season 4) and Lioness (season 3). Although the fate of Mayor of Kingstown’s fourth season is still uncertain, it wasn’t designated as the show’s last, suggesting another season is likely in development.

It’s no surprise the show has been renewed, given its popularity. Similarly, star Billy Bob Thornton recently shared he’s committed to the series for four or five years. He’s even hoping the show will continue for many more seasons, as long as the stories about the Norton family and the world of oil remain interesting.

As season 2 of Landman progresses, the main characters are facing significant challenges. Tommy (Thornton) is working to fix a problematic deal made by Cooper (Jacob Lofland) with the Gallino drug cartel, led by Andy Garcia, all while dealing with the recent loss of his mother and reconnecting with his father, T.L. (Sam Elliott). The series heavily focuses on both family relationships and the complexities of the oil industry.

We don’t yet know what will happen in Landman season 3, but the show’s renewal confirms Paramount’s commitment to continuing it with Taylor Sheridan as its creator. While the show’s future after Sheridan is uncertain, it appears secure for the time being. It’s currently unknown how things might change down the road.

Given the massive success of Landman on Paramount+, which continues to attract a large audience, the show appears to have a long future. While Season 3 isn’t expected until 2026 at the earliest, its early renewal suggests Paramount+ is confident in the series and sees it becoming a regular, yearly installment within Taylor Sheridan’s growing collection of shows.

New episodes of Landman season 2 arrive Sundays on Paramount+.
