The action fantasy anime Wistoria: Wand and Sword quickly became popular after its release in Summer 2024. Viewers loved its stunning animation, exciting battles, creative world, and developing romance. The story takes place in a world where humanity was once ruled by powerful beings called Celestial Hosts, but five mages defeated them. Now, that same threat is rising again. Centuries ago, those five mages – known as the Magia Vander – built a tower to imprison the evil, and their descendants continue to protect it as the Magia Vanders. Will Serfort and Elfaria were childhood friends, but they were separated when Elfaria’s magical abilities were discovered. After becoming a Magia Vander herself, Elfaria attends a Magic Academy, and Will enrolls as well, determined to reach her level despite not being able to use magic.
This anime is adapted from a light novel by Fujino Omori, who also wrote Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? A second season was quickly greenlit after the first season ended. More information was revealed on July 6th, 2025, at the anime’s first anniversary event, where manga artist Aoi Toshi unveiled a beautiful new illustration to build excitement. The new season is scheduled to premiere in Spring 2026, and a recent press release included a teaser trailer and another striking visual featuring the character Will.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Will Get Even More Intense in Season 2

Season two will follow Will as he continues his difficult climb to become as powerful as Elfaria, a member of the elite Magia Vanders, and a friend from his past. The latest preview hints at a major crisis brewing in the kingdom, and the academy’s students will be right in the middle of it. While the first season set up the story, many mysteries still need to be revealed.
As Will progresses, he’ll face increasingly difficult opponents, forcing him to become stronger. The first season ends with a climactic battle against the powerful Evil Grand Duke, a dangerous monster from the dungeon, and explores what happens afterward. It was a surprising feat that Will and his team managed to defeat such a formidable enemy. But the fact that someone deliberately led them into this fight hints at a larger, troubling plot unfolding soon.
Even though the immediate excitement has died down, Will still has a long way to go to achieve his dream of becoming a Magia Vander, and he’ll encounter many obstacles along the way. The second season of the anime promises to shed more light on Elfaria, his love interest, who remains largely unknown after the first season. You can watch the anime on Crunchyroll, with new episodes of Season 2 added weekly after they air.
