The Cameron Diaz Movie With One Of Her Most ‘Horrible’ Characters Hit Netflix Just In Time For The Holidays

Cameron Diaz has played many different roles throughout her acting career, from the glamorous Tina Carlyle in The Mask to the quirky Mary Jensen in There’s Something About Mary and the mysterious Jenny Everdeane in Gangs of New York. However, she reportedly thinks one of those characters is the most difficult to like. Good news for fans – the movie featuring that character is now streaming on Netflix.

One Of Cameron Diaz’s Wild Comedy Films Is Streaming In Time For The Holidays

December is a great time to enjoy holiday movies, and plenty are available to stream. The recent addition of the movie starring Cameron Diaz does have some Christmas themes, but it’s mostly known for its outrageous humor. That movie is 2011’s Bad Teacher, which started streaming on Netflix December 1st. It was produced by Sony Pictures.

Directed by Jake Kasdan, this funny movie takes place in a middle school and follows Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz), a mischievous teacher who tries to win over a new substitute teacher (Justin Timberlake). The movie also stars Jason Segel, John Michael Higgins, and Molly Shannon, all known for their comedic talents. Although critics didn’t love it when it first came out, the film was a big hit with audiences, earning about $216 million around the world on a $20 million budget.

The movie Bad Teacher, known for its behind-the-scenes details, was a big hit and even led to a TV show of the same name on CBS. However, the show only lasted one season, with 13 episodes airing in 2014. Despite this, the original movie remains popular with audiences. What I always find amusing is how frankly the Charlie’s Angels star spoke about Elizabeth.

Cameron Diaz Shared Some Brutally Honest Thoughts About Elizabeth Halsey

Cameron Diaz is known for being direct, particularly when discussing her acting career. She once described her character from a popular early 2010s comedy as “horrible” in a press interview (according to Far Out Magazine), but also explained what she liked about playing the role.

The character was deliberately written to be unlikeable, and that was brilliant. I initially struggled with the script, wondering how I could possibly portray someone so flawed and if there was any way to make the audience connect with her. But about ten pages in, my perspective shifted, and I started to enjoy her complexity. By the end, I realized the freedom of playing someone without needing to soften her edges or seek forgiveness for her actions – it was incredibly liberating.

It’s easy to see why an actor might enjoy playing a character with no sense of right or wrong. Ana de Armas delivers a brilliantly awful performance as Elizabeth, and it’s a role she plays with convincing skill. With de Armas recently returning to acting, we might see her take on similar complex characters in future films, beyond those she’s already committed to.

Cameron Diaz is back on Netflix after appearing in Back in Action this year. She’s starring in a new movie called Bad Day, where she’s wearing a bucket hat and jean shorts (jorts). Plus, she’s going to play Princess Fiona again in the next Shrek movie! While it’s hard to imagine any role topping her energetic performance as Elizabeth, it would be great to see her take on something equally fun. In the meantime, you can enjoy her hilarious performance in Bad Teacher, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
