Viz Media Reveals New Naruto Limited-Edition Home Media Release Date
VIZ Media’s limited-edition Blu-ray release of Naruto Shippuden Set 9 features a story where the Allied Shinobi Forces unite against the advancing Madara. Meanwhile, Naruto is sent on a covert mission to evade the Akatsuki, which takes him on a perilous sea voyage involving pirates and unexpected dangers.
I first encountered the world of Naruto back in 2002 with the anime series, which was based on Masashi Kishimoto’s manga from 1999. It immediately drew me in with its exciting story about ninjas and fantastical battles. The series centers around Naruto, a young boy who unknowingly carries a powerful, monstrous spirit called the Nine-Tails inside him – it turns out he was used as a vessel to contain it when he was just a baby. For twelve years, he lives a normal life, but everything changes when the truth about his past is revealed.
After discovering the truth about who he is, Naruto Uzumaki embarks on a journey filled with memorable characters, all pursuing their own ambitions. He also gets caught up in several large-scale storylines that significantly impact the entire series. The initial Naruto series consisted of 220 episodes and was later continued in 2007 with Naruto: Shippuden.
Following the original Naruto manga, Naruto: Shippuden continued the story with an additional 500 episodes spread across 22 seasons. The latest Blu-ray collection includes episodes 193-220 and was released in October. Considering previous release patterns, fans can expect at least three more Blu-ray sets in 2026, following the arrival of Naruto Shippuden Set 9 next month.
The limited edition Naruto Shippuden Set 9 Blu-ray will be available on Jan. 27, 2026 from VIZ Media.
