Award season is coming up golden.
On December 8th, actors Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall announced the nominees for the Golden Globes, revealing the films and TV shows competing for awards this year.
Before the official announcement, several projects were widely expected to receive nominations. These included the films Wicked: For Good, Marty Supreme, Hamnet, Sinners, and One Battle After Another, as well as the series The Studio, The Pitt, Severance, and Adolescence. The recently released Pluribus was also generating buzz and considered a strong contender.
As for actors, the 2026 award season promises to be a competitive field.
Several actors are predicted to be nominated for leading and supporting actor awards this season, including Michael B. Jordan for Sinners, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme, Paul Mescal for Hamnet, and Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein, along with many other talented performers.
Leading contenders for Best Actress include Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, both for their roles in Wicked: For Good. Jessie Buckley is also a strong possibility for her performance in Hamnet, as are Teyana Taylor in One Battle After Another and Jennifer Lawrence in Die My Love.
The Golden Globes are held early in the awards season and often give a good idea of which movies and TV shows are likely to win major awards.
Last year’s award winners – including the film The Brutalist, actors Demi Moore, Adrien Brody, Anna Sawai, and Hiroyuki Sanada, and the series Hacks, Shogun, and Baby Reindeer – continued to receive significant recognition throughout the rest of the season, solidifying their status as top achievers.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I’m SO excited! I just found out Nikki Glaser is hosting the New Year’s Eve show again in 2026! She was amazing last year, seriously, the perfect host. I’m already counting down the days – January 1st can’t come soon enough! I’m obsessed with her and can’t wait to see what hilariousness she brings to the show this time around!
Nikki is excited to return and hopes the show will open doors for future projects.
Honestly, hosting the Golden Globes was the absolute highlight of my career! I had such a blast, and I’m already hoping I get to do it again. I’m especially dreaming that the team from The White Lotus will be in the audience – I’ve always felt I was born to play a Scandinavian Pilates instructor on that show, maybe someone with a mysterious backstory. They have to see my talent now!
