Derek Jeter is just trying to spread the holiday cheer.
As a huge Derek Jeter fan, I loved seeing this! He rarely talks about his personal life, but he recently shared a peek into what the holidays are like for him and his wife, Hannah. They have four adorable kids – Bella Raine, who’s eight, Story Grey, six, River Rose, four, and little Kaius Green, who’s just two – and it was so sweet to get a glimpse of their family life during the festive season.
A recent video on the former MLB player’s Instagram shows him being playfully rejected by one of his children while trying to sing along to “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” in the car. The video was posted on December 7th.
After receiving a resounding “no” for his incorrect lyrics, Derek’s sister offered her support.
Sharlee Jeter, 46, playfully exclaimed, “No Derek! He’s making a list and checking it twice!” She then added with a laugh, “He’s right, that wasn’t the next line!”
Oh my gosh, Derek just posted “Happy Holidays!” and it made my day! He doesn’t talk about his family all the time, but when he does, it’s the sweetest. Remember back in October? He was supposed to cover this baseball game for Fox Sports, but the weather messed everything up. He even mentioned having to pause being a dad for a bit because of it! It was just a little glimpse into his life, but I was living for it, honestly. He’s the best!
He announced on live television, after receiving a notification on his phone, “Unfortunately, the game is delayed due to rain. I’m going to miss my parent-teacher conference because of it.”
Derek often shared snippets of his life as a father on social media. For example, a week before Halloween, he posted a picture of himself with the Jack-o’-Lanterns he’d carved – one of them even looked like a cat! He jokingly captioned the Instagram post, “I dominate this time of year!!!”
He’s also shared videos of himself driving with his older children. Last year, he posted a clip of his daughters with Hannah giving their honest opinions about his visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
Derek asked if they were bothered that he hadn’t been speaking. One of the girls replied, “Yeah, when you were just sitting there quiet.”
It was so frustrating! One of the daughters actually told me to stop filming, and I immediately explained I was focused on her dad, not her. But she was adamant – she said I was bothering him and keeping him from getting in the car. It was clear she really didn’t want me to record at that moment, and honestly, she was pretty direct about it!
