Wow, it’s been a wild ride for GreedFall 2: The Dying World this year. It didn’t exactly make a splash when it first came out in early access back in September 2024, to be honest. Things got tough for the developers too – there were layoffs that hit the animation team last July. But they haven’t given up! They’ve been working hard, adding new areas to explore, more quests to tackle, and they’ve completely reworked the combat system. It’s looking way better now!
What’s next? Dropping the “2” from its name.
The game developer announced on Steam that they’re simplifying the title of the game. They felt the original name was a bit misleading since it wasn’t a direct sequel. They’ve decided to simply call it GreedFall: The Dying World going forward, giving it a fresh, clearer identity.
This new game takes place in the same world as GreedFall, meaning you’ll still enjoy all the familiar elements – the story, the history, and everything else you loved about the original.
I’m so excited! The team at Spiders is planning a big announcement about when we can finally play, and they’ll share more details in January 2026. They’ve been working hard to make the game even better with updates, and there’s still a lot coming. It’ll be interesting to see exactly when they release it, though – they might want to avoid launching around the time when tons of other big games usually come out!
GreedFall 2: The Dying World is currently playable on PC through Steam Early Access, and will also be released on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
