Assassin’s Creed 4 Remake Gets Most Credible Leak Yet

Rumors are circulating again about a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and this time they seem more credible. The Assassin’s Creed series is hugely popular, but many fans are hoping for a return to what they consider the series’ peak. Black Flag is often cited as one of the best games in the franchise, largely because it expanded on the ship combat introduced in the previous installment, making it central to the gameplay. Instead of playing a traditional assassin, you captain a pirate ship and explore the world by sea, managing a crew and commanding them in naval battles.

As a big fan, I was honestly surprised when Assassin’s Creed Unity dropped naval combat – everyone loved sailing in the previous games! While Xbox 360 and PS3 owners could still enjoy it in Assassin’s Creed Rogue, it kind of got lost in the shuffle with everyone moving to the newer consoles. They did eventually remaster Rogue for PS4 and Xbox One, but by then a lot of people had already moved on. But lately, there’s been a lot of talk about a complete remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, which would be amazing – and it sounds like it might actually be happening!

Assassin’s Creed 4 Remake Leaked by Ratings Board

The rumor about a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, now potentially called Assassin’s Creed Resynced, is looking more and more likely to be true. A rating appeared on PEGI, a European game rating organization similar to the ESRB, indicating the game’s submission for review. Games are usually submitted for rating near the end of development when the content is finalized. Current estimates suggest the remake could be released by March 2026, so an official announcement is expected soon.

Considering it’s the last major gaming event of the year, a reveal at The Game Awards seems like the most probable time for this remake to be announced. While it could appear at a PlayStation State of Play in early 2024, or even be announced unexpectedly by Ubisoft, a larger event would likely be preferred for such a significant announcement.
