With the final season of Stranger Things currently airing, many viewers are eager to see how the story concludes. Shows as popular as Stranger Things not only generate significant revenue, but also often help launch the careers of their actors. We’ve already seen this happen with the cast, with several fan favorites landing roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – some substantial, others smaller – proving the show has been a springboard for their future projects.
Often, actors gain recognition for their roles in Stranger Things before appearing in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects. However, sometimes it happens the other way around. We’ve compiled a list of all such instances. With Stranger Things ending, it’s likely even more actors from the show will take on MCU roles in the future, potentially expanding this list.
7) Sadie Sink as an Unknown Character

Sadie Sink gained prominence through her role in Stranger Things. She joined the show in its second season as Max Mayfield, becoming the sixth member of the core friend group alongside Lucas, Mike, Will, Dustin, and Eleven. Max is known for being a bit of a daredevil, even stealing a car at one point. The beginning of Season 5 shows her body in a coma, while it’s revealed that her consciousness is actually trapped inside Vecna’s mind.
Morgan Sink is expected to first appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While it’s not yet known which character she’ll play, the movie isn’t out for several months, so that’s not a huge surprise. We’ll likely find out her role soon. Until then, fans are speculating she could be anyone from Mayday Parker and Julia Carpenter to Felicia Hardy or Gwen Stacy.
6) David Harbour as Red Guardian

David Harbour has been a key part of Stranger Things from the start, playing Jim Hopper, the police chief of Hawkins, Indiana, and a father figure to Eleven. Because of Hopper’s importance, and the possibility that Season 5 will feature major character deaths, many fans would be heartbroken if his character were killed off.
David Harbour was fantastic in his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the often-overlooked film Black Widow. He played Alexei Shostakov, also known as Red Guardian – a character who acts as a father figure to both Natasha and Yelena Romanoff, and is essentially a less polished version of Captain America.
5) Jake Busey as Tony Caine

I’ve been watching Jake Busey for years, ever since films like The Frighteners and Starship Troopers. But he’s really been keeping consistently busy with television work too. A perfect example? He was fantastic as Bruce Lowe, the journalist from The Hawkins Post, in the third season of Stranger Things – a role that really showcased his talent.
Gary Busey played Tony Caine, also known as The Candy Man, on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He appeared in just two episodes, revealing he’d been kicked out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy of Science and Engineering when he was younger. Although he first seems like an enemy, Caine quickly joins forces with S.H.I.E.L.D. to find Gravitonium.
4) Joseph Quinn as The Human Torch

Similar to Sadie Sink, Stranger Things has significantly boosted Joseph Quinn’s career. His character, Eddie Munson, is considered a highlight of Season 4. Quinn convincingly portrays Munson’s passion for heavy metal and delivers a deeply emotional performance, making his character’s final sacrifice one of the most heartbreaking moments in the series.
Marvel has finally delivered a strong Fantastic Four movie with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and a key to its success is the portrayal of Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. This version of the character is less boastful and more focused on being a team player, uncovering the mystery surrounding the Silver Surfer, and acting as a positive influence on Franklin Richards. The Human Torch is slated to appear in Avengers: Doomsday next year, and then in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
3) Joe Chrest as Frank

Joe Chrest has been part of the Stranger Things cast since the very beginning, playing Ted Wheeler. Ted is the father of Nancy and Mike and the husband of Karen – a pretty typical suburban dad who usually has no idea what kind of trouble his kids are getting into.
Though Chrest appears briefly in Ant-Man, his scene is one of the most shocking in the movie. He plays Frank, a Pym Technologies executive who challenges Darren Cross about his plans for the Yellowjacket suit. Cross then brutally kills Frank – using a weapon powered by unstable Pym Particles to shrink him into a liquid and flush him down the toilet. It’s likely the most disturbing death seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
2) Rob Morgan as Turk Barrett

Rob Morgan, an actor you might recognize from Don’t Look Up and The United States vs. Billie Holiday, plays Officer Calvin Powell in Stranger Things. He’s a colleague of Hopper’s at the Hawkins Police Department. While he didn’t appear in the first part of Season 5, he was a key character in four episodes of Season 4, investigating Eddie Munson after the death of Chrissy Cunningham, believing Eddie was responsible.
Morgan played a recurring role in the Marvel Netflix series that are now considered official parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He portrayed the character Turk Barrett, a criminal who worked for Wilson Fisk. Barrett appeared in a total of fifteen episodes across several shows: seven of Daredevil, one of Jessica Jones, three of Luke Cage, one of Iron Fist, one of The Defenders, and two of The Punisher.
1) Randy Havens as Various Characters

Randy Havens portrays Scott Clarke in the Netflix series, a middle school science teacher at Hawkins. He’s known for assisting the group of friends—affectionately called “the Party”—with science projects that often come in handy during their adventures, like when they were searching for Will Byers. Mr. Clarke is a kind, reassuring, and somewhat geeky character who clearly loves teaching science.
So far, actor Stephen Haven has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe twice, though in minor roles. He first played Kamala Khan’s driving instructor in an episode of Ms. Marvel. The following year, he returned in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as Till, a character who was experimented on and altered by the High Evolutionary, then hidden among ordinary people on Counter-Earth.
