Divinity: Original Sin 3 Isn’t Currently Planned, Says Larian Studios

Larian Studios’ Michael Douse playfully acknowledged they weren’t ready to officially announce Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5, but also confirmed that they aren’t currently working on Divinity: Original Sin 3.

The developer recently stated on Twitter that there are no immediate plans for Divinity Original Sin 3, but they will announce new projects when they’re ready. While this seems like a standard response, they didn’t mention recent trademark filings for the Divinity franchise.

For weeks, The Game Awards has been hinting at a statue, and fans have been trying to guess what game it represents. Popular theories included Diablo 4, God of War, and The Elder Scrolls 6. However, according to Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, the actual announcement will be something completely different and likely very exciting.

Following the initial reports, trademarks for the name “Divinity” and a logo inspired by the statue’s design appeared. These were filed by IHDE and Partner Rechtsanwalte, the law firm that typically manages Larian’s trademarks. While it’s unlikely to be Original Sin 3, it could signal a new game set in the Divinity universe, especially since the series started with Divine Divinity.

Find out tomorrow at 4:30 PM Pacific Time when The Game Awards are broadcast – we’ll have all the updates!
