New photos from season 7 of Strike are out, featuring Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger reprising their roles as Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott.
Season 7 will draw its story from “The Running Grave,” the latest book by J.K. Rowling, who also writes under the name Robert Galbraith.
Now that first-look images are available, the actors for season 7 have been confirmed. Returning cast members include Ruth Sheen (Pat), Jack Greenlees (Sam Barclay), Tupele Dorgu (Midge), Natasha O’Keeffe (Charlotte), Sarah Sweeney (Lucy), Ben Crompton (Shanker), Stephen Hagan (DCI Richard Murphy), and Caitlin Innes Edwards (Ilsa).
The show is also welcoming several new cast members this season: James Fleet (known for “I, Jack Wright”) will play Sir Colin Edensor, Nichola McAuliffe (from “Living”) will be Shelley Heaton, Keeley Forsyth (of “Poor Things”) joins as Mazu Wace, Fabian McCallum (appearing in “The Witcher”) will portray Will Edensor, and John Lynch (from “Blue Lights”) will play Jonathan Wace.

In season 7, Sir Colin and Sally Edensor hire private detectives Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott to help them reach their son, Will, who they’ve lost touch with. The Edensors believe Will has been manipulated by a cult called the Universal Humanitarian Church, which has also taken his money, and they want Strike and Ellacott to find proof of the church’s harmful influence.
The church, fronted by a charitable image and supported by famous people, operates under the leadership of the compelling Jonathan Wace. It also employs strong legal tactics to suppress any opposition or criticism.

Robin goes undercover at Chapman Farm, a remote location in Norfolk, to secretly investigate claims of mistreatment and abuse within the cult.
The church’s strange beliefs revolve around the tale of Daiyu, the Drowned Prophet, who many believe was a god reborn.

Unraveling the mystery surrounding the death of the Drowned Prophet is crucial to the investigation, but it sends the detectives into risky and unfamiliar areas.
I’m so excited for the new season! It’s five episodes long, and thankfully, Tom Edge is back writing it – he’s been involved since season two, which is fantastic. Plus, Sue Tully is directing again, and she did a brilliant job on seasons four, five, and six, so I have high hopes!
The seventh season of Strike will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2026. You can currently watch the first six seasons on BBC iPlayer.
