It seems that “South Park” is set to resume with its twenty-seventh season towards the end of this month, but the popular animated comedy on Comedy Central is facing some significant turmoil. Previously announced was a postponement of the series’ premiere from July 9th to July 23rd. The creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have been straightforward about the reasons for the delay, attributing it mainly to the licensing dispute between Paramount and HBO Max. Unfortunately, the drama appears to be escalating as it has been reported that all episodes of “South Park” have been removed from Paramount+.
At present, if you search for South Park on Paramount+, you won’t find the episodes from past seasons. However, specials such as South Park: Post-COVID, South Park: The Streaming Wars, South Park: The End of Obesity, and South Park: Joining The Panderverse are still accessible. Unfortunately, individual episodes can’t be located. The first movie, South Park: Bigger Longer, & Uncut, remains on the platform. Amidst fan speculation about the series’ future, Paramount has been reaching out to subscribers regarding this issue and has issued an official statement which you can read below.
Paramount’s Official Statement
We empathize with your disappointment. Regrettably, South Park has reached the end of its availability on Paramount+ due to rights expiration. This is why it’s no longer available on our platform. If you’d like to terminate your Paramount+ subscription and relinquish any promotional benefits tied to your account, please provide the email address linked with the account you intend to close. Upon receiving your information, we will confirm that your subscription has been successfully cancelled.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the new season of South Park, but unfortunately, it seems like the upcoming season has hit a snag due to some complications with the merger. The creators, Parker and Stone, voiced their concerns on the official South Park social media account, expressing their frustration about how this situation is negatively impacting their beloved creation. They’re currently working hard in the studio, hoping that we, the fans, will still get to enjoy the new episodes somehow.
The latest buzz is that South Park is planning a significant event at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. With the ongoing controversy surrounding the merger, fans are left wondering if this exciting event will indeed take place. Stay tuned for updates!
Currently, there are no updates about any delays for the approaching 27th season of South Park, or where it will be broadcasted between Paramount+ and HBO Max. However, we’ll keep you posted about all the details concerning its release. While it appears that episodes will air on Comedy Central, this could potentially change during the course of this South Park journey.
