The upcoming fourteenth season of “King of the Hill” is nearly here, with the Hank family set to return not on Fox, but on the streaming platform Hulu. A significant change in casting was necessary following the sad demise of Johnny Hardwick, with Toby Huss stepping into the role for the August revival. Furthermore, it has been officially announced that there will be another notable swap in season fourteen of the show. Previously, this recast had been speculated through various podcasts and leaks related to the animated comeback, but now it’s confirmed: Kahn will have a new voice actor for the upcoming storyline of “King of the Hill”.
Ronnie Chieng has been chosen to step into the shoes of Kahn Souphanousinphone in the upcoming revival of “King of the Hill.” Interestingly, Toby Huss, who used to voice Hank’s father and is now assuming the role of Dale, had previously held this part. Although Hulu hasn’t officially explained why Chieng is replacing Huss, Chieng himself revealed the reason on Ari Shaffir’s podcast, “You Be Trippin'” earlier this year. During the podcast discussion, Chieng openly admitted that “Huss isn’t Asian at all” and expressed his immense joy about joining the cast of a series he has admired since childhood.
A Kahn Controversy
The fourteenth season of “King of the Hill” appears to be preparing some intense storylines for the character Kahn, as suggested by an episode title that seems to imply a possible divorce. Before the new series launches on August 4th, the show unveiled the title “Kahn-cious Uncoupling,” which could mean turbulence in Kahn and Minh’s relationship during this upcoming season. Given that many characters seem to have undergone significant transformations since the previous series finale, it is quite plausible that Kahn might experience changes as well.
After spending years working in Saudi Arabia to save for their retirement, Hank and Peggy Hill return home to Arlen, Texas, where they reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his twenties with classmates Connie, Joseph, and Chane. Although Kahn isn’t explicitly mentioned, he’s expected to reappear since Hank has been away for some time. In the meantime, many of Hank’s friends have experienced significant changes – Bill has dealt with COVID-19, Dale is running for mayor of Arlen, and Boomhauer seems to be in a new relationship.
