This year in May, Jujutsu Kaisen released a compilation film in theaters featuring a highly anticipated story arc. Known as the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc (or Gojo’s Past Arc in the manga), this arc is a fan favorite and became incredibly popular after being adapted into the first five episodes of Season 2 of the anime. The story goes back 12 years, showing Satoru Gojo – now considered the strongest sorcerer – as a carefree high school student. A tragic event changes his life and motivates him to try and fix the world of Jujutsu sorcery. The film quickly became available internationally after its release in Japan, with fans praising its beautiful animation on the big screen.
With the year winding down and fans buzzing about Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution and Season 3, the compilation film covering the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc now has streaming dates. The official anime website announced the film will be available to rent or download starting December 17th, 2025, on platforms like Prime Video, Niconico Channel, and DMM TV, though exact release dates will differ between services. Currently, this announcement is only for viewers in Japan. However, since the film includes some new artwork not seen in Season 2, there’s hope it will become available internationally as well.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Will Always Be Loved Among Fans

Jujutsu Kaisen is known for its intense, fast-paced action, but this sometimes means less time for character development and lighter moments. The recent arc focusing on Gojo’s past is different; it prioritizes showing Gojo’s growth as a character over constant fighting. Gojo is a hugely popular character, and fans were excited to see an arc exploring his teenage years and the challenges he faced even as the strongest sorcerer.
The prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, showed the friendship between Gojo and Suguru Geto and how it eventually fell apart, but the full story wasn’t revealed until later in a flashback. Their relationship is a fan favorite, showing their happy youth before things tragically went wrong and changed their lives forever. Despite its bright and cheerful setting, this arc emphasizes the harsh realities of the jujutsu world and the heavy pressure it puts on young sorcerers.
Watching the anime really brought the story to life. They added these small, thoughtful details in the visuals that made the characters feel so much more complex and interesting. And the second season? The animation is honestly some of the best I’ve seen in recent anime. It made this particular story arc incredibly engaging. The movie takes things even further – the quality is amazing, which makes sense since it was made for the big screen.
