This week, the popular multiplayer shooter Battlefield 6 received its final update for Season 1: the Winter Offensive. This update adds a winter-themed challenge path to the Season 1 Battle Pass and a new game mode called “Ice Lock,” which takes place on a snow-covered version of the Empire State map.
The new arctic camouflage cosmetics are fantastic, and the Ice Lock game mode is a really clever idea – it’s the type of seasonal content Battlefield fans should be excited about. However, the Winter Offensive update has been troubled by technical problems on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5.
Players have been experiencing significant performance issues in Battlefield 6, particularly on PC (via Steam), causing frequent stuttering that makes the game feel choppy and often unplayable. Additionally, bugs in the game’s menus on all platforms are preventing players from easily accessing or selecting options.
The Firing Range, where you can test your weapons on targets at different ranges, is currently experiencing issues. Damage numbers aren’t showing up correctly, and it’s difficult to hit the targets consistently.
Following the release of Game Update 1.1.3.0 and the Winter Offensive, Battlefield Studios has announced they’re working on fixes and will be releasing hotfixes over the next few days.
A patch releasing on Steam tomorrow, December 12th, will fix stuttering, menu problems, and issues in the Firing Range. Another update is planned for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and the EA app on December 15th to address similar menu and Firing Range glitches in Battlefield 6 on those platforms.

We really value your feedback and want to assure you that the Battlefield team is working hard to fix the issues you’ve been reporting. We appreciate you helping us prioritize these improvements, and solutions are already being released or are coming soon, as Kevin Johnson, our global community manager, shared.
The studio also showed off a number of bugs from the Winter Offensive that have already been resolved. They confirmed they’re currently working on fixes for two remaining issues: incorrect bot deaths appearing on player stats, and problems with lag and inaccurate shooting for players using less powerful computers.
Battlefield Studios has addressed player feedback regarding the recent changes to Breakthrough mode. They’ve fixed an issue where too many vehicles were appearing at once by ensuring new vehicles only spawn in a sector after those in previous sectors have been destroyed. They’ve also tweaked where vehicles appear. The developers plan to share further improvements as they’re developed.
I’m really glad the team addressed some frustrating issues with vehicles! They’ve fixed the inconsistent damage from things like rockets and made sure machine guns actually register hits now. Looking ahead, they’re planning to tone down the damage from jet cannons – which should make dogfights last a bit longer. And even cooler, they’re working on a proper air radar system for after Season 1, which will be a huge help for keeping track of enemies in the sky. That’s going to make air combat so much more strategic!
It’s great that Battlefield 6 is receiving important fixes promptly. However, the Winter Offensive update was hampered by these issues, which unfortunately led to the delay of the competitive Elite Series for Battlefield REDSEC. Hopefully, future updates will be more stable.
